It's taken a while to figure it out but I'm better at just drawing something than I am modifying an existing image so I decided to try a GTO drawing (painting?) like you would have seen in the 80's or 90's on a tee shirt. It's still rough, but it's coming together...this is what I have so far, it still needs fleshed out and a bunch of clean up, but I think the proportions and perspective are looking pretty good. Did I miss anything major?
