Brushing vs cropping

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask a question, and some hopefully get some ideas help, feedback ext. I really want to be able to brush, although I also want to know if it is worth spending hours and hours learning or to just keep cropping out body kits and parts ext and blending/ merging them in. In a way I feel like I am not properly virtually tuning the cars. Should I be brushing them really, is cropping from other cars not the real way to tune, and how can I learn to brush. It seems I can never find any tutorials on brushing that are detailed enough. Maybe I just need to keep practising with trial and error. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks
I can tell you that brushing is NOT everything.
Seriously its all just to much fuzz about brushing , one of the best choppers in the world are are copy paster , and for me i only started brushing cus i wanted to create my own stuff
But seriously dude you dont have to think about it, just do what you do best and feel most comfy about .
Chopping is all about having fun and learning not to stress and try to brush as its all just a big hoga boga imo .
But if you want to learn how to brush , start with Tooning a car, then you get to learn where to add reflections and shadows etc, and just take it from there, but never belive that cus you cannot brush you cant be good enough cus thats bullshit ;)

Ok Glacius, that's cool, thanks for your reply :) I think I will continue tuning the way I am and enjoying it. Cheers mate.
Haha glac which chopper is that i'm curious?

Don't worry bout brush dude. Small stuff comes and goes and you get a hang of it. I'm good with small things and overbrush but i've been chopping for 4 years and i'm still more comfortable finding a car where i can take its paint from it and work it into a realistic copy paste approach. Its all about what you're good at yourself and what fits your stlye of tuning too :)

Ok chopperkid44, thanks for a reply. :-d

Glacius hit the nail ont he head really with his reply. Chopping isn't all about brushing, but brushing is an awesome way to truely create exactly what you want, with perfect lighting etc. Chris also mentioned tooning a couple of cars to find out about reflections which is an awesome point, it really does help you. When i overbrushed my kawajacki ninja, i did it purely for brushing practice and after that my chopping stepped up its own game. The most important thing that my mate Danny taught me is that it really doesn't matter how you finish a chop, it's the final product that makes people sit back and go, wow. its extremely rare that i do a 100% copy & paste chop, and extremely rare that i do a 100% brushed chop, it's always a mix of the two to get the finish that i want. Overbrushing as chopperkid says is extremely effective too. Just do what you feel good doing, and you'll develop your own techniques over time.
Hello.
Thanks jaxkdarton for your reply, I like what you say about its the finished product that counts. Cheers :) Maybe I will do a mixture of both. All helpful replies. thanks
my add >

try to practice on small stuff , like when you use c&p parts re-brush parts or brush blending them in , dont overdo it
and there is nothing wrong with c&p
best chops imo are a perfect blend of c&p and brush

i have seen a lot of chops where people stated stuff was brushed but i could easely recognise the donorparts they used and re-brushed , i mean just stay true to yourself and gradually build up :-d :-d

Echo the above really, some people don't make the difference between brush and a re-brush but not really important in my eyes. I agree though that brushing isn't everything though brushing does open unlimited possibilities rather than just those that are at the right angle.

Personally, my favorite method is still to find a donor that I like and over brush to fit in with that cars paint but it whatever feels best for you and gets the best results for you.
