My first 3D animation: "The Predator in the Office"

Here's a school project which has taken a lot of my time recently. All modeling and animation done in Maya9. Sounds in Audition 1.5, visual postproduction in After Effects.

Please let me know what you think!

Here is the character in a different lighting and pose:

Awesome man! I really liked it!

for first animation is great idea, :-d
dude, that's sweet as hell xD as mentioned in the comments, the yellow subtitles are kinda hard to read but i know how hard it is to find one colour that stands out above everything else 100% of the time, and yellow wasn't too bad. Sweet details in everything in the animation, and the spider/compass/predator model was awesome as hell! Keep it up.
Hello.
Thanks for the comments!

Now that the heavy courses at school start to come to an end I'm thinking of finally starting my first 3D car project. There's a chance I might do a traditional photoshop car first though, but with 3D wheels. We'll see, we'll see.
Haha awesome idea, i love it. :omg: xD

Awww.... Dammit I actually have a copy of auto-desk Maya 8 or 9. But i dont have a clue how to use it.

So any chance you have a good tutorials sites?? or is it all tough at school/ college ?
Because 90% of tutorials i've seen use 3D max or something. And Maya seems alot harder :/. So i'd love to try and start doing 3D work but dont have a clue where to start o.O

Yeah, Maya tutorials are a bit scarce, I know.

It's a bit hard to get into because of all the layers after layers of tools -not to mention the many methods of modeling. At least it was for me.

I think Maya's internal help has some tutorials too so maybe you should take a look if you could get started with them?

Sweet work, I loved the storyline concept. It's cool to see you bring an inanimate object to life and give it character like that. It also looks like a lot of fun to do!
These kinds or characters are my favourite! I had it straight from the start that I don't want to make a human(oid) or an animal character but instead somekind of a mechanical thingy. Breathing life into inanimate objects are why 3D was invented in the first place, I guess! :P

Thanks for the comment Mark!

EDIT: Why does the site lose the text I just typed? I hit 'submit' but it only shows the messages in reverse order but does not add my newly written comment in there. Clicking 'back' on my browser goes back to the message writing but the text is lost. My browser doing this?
