DESIGN Challenge! 2015 Mazda MX-5

The Mazda Miata MX-5 is celebrating its 25th birthday in 2014. It made its global debut way back in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show. To honor that, a big birthday party is to be held at the New York International Auto Show, taking place the 18th of April.

A new model MX-5 has been in the works a while now. We dont know a whole lot about it, other than that it shares the platform with the new Alfa Spider. While the Alfa will be revealed much later, sources have just confirmed that the new MX-5 will be unveiled at the New York International Auto Show.

This gives Autemo a unique opportunity to speculate what the new MX-5 will look like. So I'm hereby presenting a challenge: Show us what you think the new Mazda MX-5 will look like. This can be in the form of sketches, concept drawings or full-blown chops. You can post your concepts in this thread, and when the final reveal is done at the NYC IAS, we'll come together and check who got the closest, and appoint a winner.

Just to give an idea, this is what someone from Autoweek.com thinks it will look like.

My entry

it's heavily based on the mazda 6 concept, didn't really change a lot since I like how it looks on the mx5 style body.

Wrong: The new Mazda MX-5 will share the chassis with the grandaughter of the Fiat 124. The Alfa Spider will have her own chassis and will probably have under the hood a Ferrari V6, coming from the Maserati Ghibli.
Mazda said the new Miata won't put up the current family feeling, it'll have a different style.

It's not wrong at all. The only recent development is the CEO of Alfa Romeo said he wouldn't allow an Alfa that is not built in Italy. The chassis is still co-developed by the two and a likely possibility is the Alfa-version of the car being named Abarth instead. But that's still speculation. The press announcement still stands until a new one comes out. That's how things work.
