2013 World Team Battle Discussion Thread

You guys/ girls have been asking for it, so we are bringing it back in 2013! (possibly)

Seeing this was a huge success and considered one of the most talked about chopping event, the staff team wants to hear your ideas and feedback on how the competition should ran this year.

The only thing set this year is that all teams must have 2-4 choppers, only under certain circumstances can you inquire about having an international team and we will focus on ORIGINALITY and REALISM this year.

The staff team already has a few idea planned but we want to hear what you lot would prefer:
-Short deadline with more rounds, Long deadline with less rounds?
-New cars vs old school
-Asia, Europe or American cars?
-Hatchback, sedan, wagons, utes, limos, truck, vans
-Themes for competition?
-Public voting or voting by set judge panel
-What went wrong in previous years of WTB.

Your ideas, your competition. (Of course the staff team will add our own twists along the way :P)
Get planning and get excited! :)

Great to hear that!! I want to partecipate this year...
-Id' like rounds of 20 days
-Old school cars, normal cars too
-Every continent cars
-Hatchbacks, sedans and vans
-'60s style, safari style ecc.
-judges voting
-Went wrong the public voting
Rates: 1 stolen 4 very bad 6 acceptable 7 realistic + nice 8 very good 9 awesome 10 awesome + epic
great idea
I was already seeing that never had news from wtb
I think it failed at the last part, where the partnership was with luxury4play
large parts of cars that passed ex. 1st round was the scene of a crash, or death.
Where this has to do with luxury? is my opinion
on issues was well thought do for each phase 1 theme which would make much difference and lead staff to develop different themes in the usual and not so much follow what we do.

about it all good ideas are a different challenge to home stage
Voting should be tavam continue as judge for this situation

I've never ever done a team chop so..
- since it's team based I wouldn't make the deadlines too short, but not too long either, something around a month per round?
- old skool and new is great, specially in themed rounds old vs new (example: old 911 vs new 911 or old golf vs new golf)
- I'd lose the truck and van stuff tho, not something people are actually waiting for I suppose
- Judging by a panel of judges seems legit, went well in ASC/BPC as well so

great to see it going to come back
best is short deadlines in the first few rounds but when it comes to semi and final maybe stretch it out a bit longer
should do both old and new but not to have any themes
any type of cars but would love in semi or final to do a full truck/van would show what some great talent people have its more work more custom creations
definiately public voting
thats what when wrong last year with no public voting was not really interested as had no part in the voting
to stretch out competion you could have a back door system if some teams were put out in round 1 and 2 they could have a small competion of their own and whoever won it could be in semis of the real competion
Great stuff guys, keep the ideas coming, and awesome feedback too! :)

I like the idea of a "back door competition" as hdiman calls it. Perhaps a parallel competition for those people who got knocked out in the prior rounds. It would mean that the teams with less talent could still participate.

Alternatively what do you guys think of just scrapping the knockout format altogether and have a 6 round compulsory entry competition? 6 rounds of one month long, and to win your team must compete in every round. Would alleviate the problem of people getting knocked out early and losing interest in the competition.

I like the idea of not dropping anyone out between rounds. I remember a couple of times when I attended the WTB and there was a base car we didn't really like that much. We didn't have much motivation to chop it properly and didn't get past round two or the like. Later on found out there would have been more interesting base cars later on.

People have strengths in different kind of styles (except for hugo who rules all darn it! :D ) so it might be more interesting to compete when the teams might have stronger rounds to compensate for the ones they didn't really feel that much into the base car or possible style/theme constraint.

I have a question for those responding. You seem to like all sorts of challenges, however in last year's WTB we attempted to put real challenges in for you. But it wasn't a success. What do you think is the reason and could you name some specific examples for this lack of success?

While we are on the subject of challenges; Do you think the competition demands should stay specific (for example design a production kit for the bmw 6 series) or to let everyone do what they want with the bases?
