Need help with a post-processing technique

So I've stumbled upon a photographer while browsing Flickr.
This guy Ronaldo.S

He has a lot of great shots, but what stand out to me the most are pictures like these.

I consider myself quite advanced in Photoshop, but simply, I'm not able to re-produce the same effect, this kind of an sun-flare or light spill if you will. I'd really like to know how to add this effect to some of my sunset photos. It really adds to the mood of the picture.

Ideas, anyone? Thanks in advance!
not sure if this will help. try creating a layer on top of all layers. using different brush sizes and colors on vivid light and soft light to get the effecy you desire. im sure there is a tutorial here.

Something like this?

Basically all I did was make a whole lot of selections and new layers and play with brightness/contrast, color balance and dodge and burn tools.

You take a picture, you come into the filter rendering, lighting effects, and choose efekt. Create a new layer and paint brush large size where you need!
How do you consider yourself advanced in photoshop if you can't do this simple task?

You can't add this effect to every single photo. Watch closely to his photos, light comes from one direction and shadows under the car is hard-edge, it's not soft like under Your Porsche.
If You find good photo, You've to use Dodge Tool (Lights) to bright reflections and sun point. Also I would use Color Balance to warm part of the picture (selected usind very soft selection) in "highlights" section. (add more yellow and red).
Thanks everyone for your efforts!
Guess i just need to practice more.

Haha, what's your problem?
Here's a quick psd file I made with some different layers that get a similar effect. Feel free to download it and use it yourself and play around with it.

Basically add a big orange splodge with the gradient tool, set to making circular gradients, colour to transparent, and play around with the layer mode. Just scroll through each one by one until you get one that looks close to what you want. From here try adjusting the opacity, saturation and hue of the layer.
I find that a darkish browny orange with a layer mode of "screen" works well.

The effect will only look good if the picture already quite orange and has similar sunset style lighting, otherwise it will just look very fake like a couple of the examples above :-d
