New Competition... Info Inside
Hello All!
After some discussion amongst the staff and a few select members, we have decided to open our new competition idea to the public. The point of this thread is to gather some ideas and opinions about how this competition should be run. Here is the current plan, please reply with suggestions if you have any!
As a consequence, our new competition will be run very similar to the WTB, with one key difference - no teams. That means the usual knockout format will be making a return, with four rounds of intense individual combat!
Both competitions will run from July - December annually. This year it may start a month later due to the WTB.
The All Stars Competition will be open to all members, however it is recommended that Intermediate and New Choppers participate in the "Below Pro Challenge" while Pro Tuner and above artists participate in the All Stars Competition. If you are an Intermediate or New chopper and believe you have what it takes to step it up with the All Stars challenge feel free to enter this comp; however it may be a more rewarding experience for you to participate in the "Below Pro Challenge" as you will likely be part of the competition for longer (competing in more rounds), and have a better chance of being promoted in the end. Voting in the All Stars Competition will be done by a select judging panel.
There will be 4 rounds in this competition, and will run in a very similar way to how the WTB has been run this year, except the final will be a head to head battle of the top two progressing choppers with a head to head bronze final too.The exact numbers progressing through each round will be dependent on the number of entries.
The Below Pro Challenge will be open to all members who are of New Chopper or Intermediate level. There will be no limit to the number of places in this competition. The base images / tasks each round will be different to those of the All Stars Competition. Voting in the Below Pro Challenge will be by the public through the competitions area to make it easier for the staff to tally results.
The means of progression in the Below Pro Challenge will be similar to that of the All Stars Competition.
There will be a cash reward for the All Stars Competition for the top three place getters. At this point in time we have a prize pool of $175 (AUD) with contributions from myself and J_HUI. We are also hoping to get sponsor involvement like the WTB which will hopefully significantly increase this sum. The winners will get their chops featured on our Facebook page.
Below Pro Challenge
There won't be any cash reward for the Below Pro Challenge. However, the top 3 artists will receive promotion. The winner of the Below Pro Challenge will also have one of their entries featured on our Facebook page.

BEHIND THE IDEA
Noticing that the WTB seems to have lost a lot of its hype and prestige, Autemo is in need of a new flagship yearly event - something to gather some interest around the community and the greater "petrol head" public alike. The main drawback of the WTB has always been the team element, with many artists not participating based on this aspect. It adds complexity from an administration perspective (organising teams, ensuring that people from the same country don't vote, etc.) as well as from the choppers perspective (sharing the workload, allocating tasks, competing ideas/opinions, intra-team arguments, etc.). Add in some fairly substantial cash rewards, and it's a recipe for disaster (not that I'd call this year a disaster, but it certainly has been a hassle to keep it running smoothly behind the scenes). As a consequence, our new competition will be run very similar to the WTB, with one key difference - no teams.
