Stock PS brushes work nicely for me. I've slowly become aware over the past couple of years that my method has changed. Beforehand I used to use different layer modes, different brushes, filters etc to kind of... I guess cheat my way to achieving a nice look.

Now, I literally just brush on what I want to be there, using this method I could create a chop from scratch on one layer. You find you have much more freedom this way, and it's really relaxing to just slap some colour on and build it up.

Because of this, I don't use brushes to create effects, I just use the stock brushes to well... paint I guess.

Hard Round Size 2 Brush. I use it quite a bit, but it isn't in the default presets. I suggest making your own custom presets utilizing the Preset Manager.

same as jack for me, i use standart brushes and paint everything on one layer only, with som exeptions sometimes of a little detail im not shure off, i create in a new layer in order to delete it if i dont like

I use :
a Round 100% for very small points and lines
a Round 50% that I sometimes turn up to 96-98
a Progressive for lights and smooth colours

Same here,stock brushes on low number of layers,works good imo

Same here to, only stock bushes for the cars.
For the landscapes and siome other artworks am downloading brushes, Im just googleing that brush I need.

There is more than one brush?
I use the Airbrush in PsP7,adjustable hardness, width, opacity, whatever.
