Happy birthday to Carl Sagan
I felt obliged to say happy birthday to the late Carl Sagan. Mainly because, on a personal level, he has always been one of the most influential and inspiring people to me.
He had such a great mind, unfathomable intellect, and was a brilliant author of scientific works (non-fiction and fiction), presenter of successful tv series, and writer of a few popular hollywood scripts too.

He is also responsible for arguably one of the most important photographs ever taken in human history. The pale blue dot image taken from 3.7billion miles away from voyager 1 (looking back from the very edge of the solar system). The book he wrote by the same name is a must read.
It's guys like him, hawking, einstein, newton, galileo, planck that all help to increase our understanding of the universe around us, just that little bit more. And in doing so advance the world somewhat for the better. They are the guys that honostly leave this place a tad better off for having been in it.
