Ideas for AC 2012

So.You can add some ideas about Autemo Championship 2012 before its out.

So my ideas its only about points system just like in F1.

1 - 25
2 - 18
3 - 15

4 - 12
5 - 10
6 - 8
7 - 6
8 - 4
9 - 2
10 - 1

Only TOP 10 gets points.

And voting threads should be make on forum.

What do You think?

There's no DRS in Autemo, so finishing first isnt as much of a challenge as in F1, where the followers have an advantage over you :p. So in my opinion the points tally should be closer.

better to mark entries with numbers for voting..
no1.10 pts
no2.9 pts
no.3 8 pts

.

no need to show artists name beside the entry, its not fair :(
some people may vote for their friend's chop..

and i agree with rc82 too..
Perhaps make some sort of average score per chop.

Right now, someone who enters every round and comes 10th could still beat someone who has entered 1 and won it. (although with the above score system things would be different).

This would benefit those who don't have the opportunity to enter that often, due to other issues in life, which, with the old system may make them wonder 'why bother entering at all? I have no chance of winning'

Admittedly, part of the challenge is to enter as much as possible - but for many its just not possible. Just a thought :-d

I agree with ATC here, although I think that to win the whole competition the chopper must have participated in a minimum amount of rounds. That way the average won't be based on the result of very few chops that the chopper produced, but rather a broader range of their efforts.

I also think there could be some sort of bonus to the average the more rounds a chopper competes in. This could be done by excluding the rounds in which the chopper performed worst in. The more rounds that a person competes in, the more can be excluded from their average. Say, for every four rounds a chopper competes in, their worst of those four gets to be excluded from their average.

Combining both of these systems together would alleviate a possible problem where, for example, an Elite chopper who is inactive on the forum competes in two rounds and performs well and wins the whole competition over a more active and contributive chopper who averages 2nd or 3rd in each comp over 10 or so rounds.

I was also thinking why not also include an average points based on level. That way we'll be able to see who are the best New Chopper, Inter, Pro, Advanced and Elite choppers. That could help give some of our newbies a bit more of an incentive to compete too as going head to head with the big guns of the forum could be intimidating and disheartening.

One thing we definitely need for 2012 is a proper working (and in depth) leaderboard.

Yeh sounds good.
Cos as the current competition stands, new choppers have no real chance of winning...

Assigning extra points based on level sounds cool - like a sort of handicap right? Mmm... lots to think about... I might have a play today with some spreadsheets ;)

EDIT: A bonus system for the number of rounds entered sounds like a sensible idea to overcome the problem of someone entering one round :P

I didn't actually mean handicapping, more just a leaderboard for each level of choppers so that choppers can see how they're performing against people of similar abilities.

But handicapping is also a good idea. We'd probably have to look into how each level chopper performed in last years standings and then average out the difference between the levels to determine how large the handicaps should be.

The question is, are we making this a little too mathematical and complex and is it really necessary? That I'm not sure.

Maybe a bit. Maybe an additional leaderboard for each chopping level is better.
Otherwise handycapping means that the best will be at a disadvantage. usually the way leagues work, the best win... so it should be kept that way.

But yeh, extra leaderboards for each section. So much to consider though :/

The above scoring system still wouldn't give newcomers a chance since they have to get 1st, 2nd or 3rd to get the decent point margins. Or in case of hugo last year, someone would have to be consistently 1st to even close the gap with him.

A championship with several rounds just isn't friendly to newcomers. We cant do anything about it that wouldn't be unfair towards the others. One thing we could do is emphasize individual competition rankings more, like a spotlight or whatever. But that would kinda suck when the entries and votes are terrible.
