Level of Chopping

This has been crossing my mind since about three weeks or so now. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, I am sure the Elite/Advanced Choppers have. A lot of people in the current sections; New Choppers, Intermediate etc - they are in the wrong section. Now not everyone, but I mean a good few are in Intermediate, they should be in New Choppers, some in Intermediate should be in Pro Tuners, one or two in Pro Tuners should be in Intermediate, Few in Pro Tuners are still not Advanced yet, and few in Advanced whom should be Elite.

What I am trying to say is, the level of standards has decreased. More and more people are being promoted for the sake of it. Meaning; they should be pushed for the right section rather than being promoted because "their next chop might impress us". Tbh, that's not the right attitude.. If you want something really bad, you'll work for it and take advice of the higher level choppers, it is the only way to better yourself/improve.

I think a higher level of standard here at Autemo should be introduced. Members should be de-promoted and some promoted. I don't want any members here "hating" me for this suggestion as it could result in you being de-promoted, but think about it this way; You will better yourself and push yourself that little harder. Obviously, if this goes ahead with my idea, then you really have nothing to worry about.

Myself, imo, I am Intermediate and I won't be Pro Tuner for a very long time unless I buck my ideas up. Lately, I have been forcing myself to try new things, work on execution and perspective issues. I am sure a lot of youse out there have been doing the same thing. Another way to look at this new idea is that when Client's come here/if not already here, you'll push yourself even more when the money is involved - I know I will. Like I say, the standard of chopping here needs to be sorted; mainly to better yourself and make sure the right chopper is completing the right task for the Client.

What does everyone think?

thing like this was already done, and i think it is ok, aslong as it is kept up/or will be looked closer in future ;)
the lines are bit wobbly in places, i have to admit that, but it aint me who decides on this
Well imo, not to be a bitch, it needs to be re-inforced.

i kinda agree and disagree with you :P
Then explain? Everyone needs to voice their opinion, cause at the end of the day, it will affect each individual member.

in general i agree that there are some dodgy things , but on the other hand it's staff who desides..
for m personally everything higher then intermidiate should requiare more then just style and extremeness !
lighting , ref's , angles , basic finish and so on then become as important as how cool the design looks imo

i really saw some high level chops where the wheels just looked noob-isch or you could see on some things there was less time invested in some stuff like i mentioned
it's not all about how wide the kit is or how cool it looks , ..
i dont mean this happens here a lot , but there have been some examples where i really thought .. hmmzz how can this be in this level..

also seeing a advanced chopper that deserves elite way more then others ......

but it's nothing i'm worried about i just give hounest c&c to everybody novice or elite and i'm not in the mood to really bother about this all

but since you started this subject i can give my opinion :D

imo there are to much sections , remove pro tuners and elite i'd say and just have novice / inter / advanced and quicky's......
the way it should be ..
it's like then you can promote on basic principals ..

1. novice > obvious
2. inter > going from above novice to great skilled chops
3. advanced > great skilled chops without major flaws and stunning finish
4. quicky for every chopper who desides his chop is not good enough for his level and therefore post it there...

just some thoughts , elite could remain but ...... the rest imo is to blurry on the skill and what level to put in factor..

last thing , it's pretty hard to keep track of promotions and i think staff does their best really..
they should pick a fixed promotion team of 2 people who have enough time to watch for promotions..

your head's in the right place Andy, and we genuinely are working on it. The sites not been open for long and we're already nearly on 700 members. That's a lot to sift through and sort out into categories based on complex judgements in a short space of time. This "crackdown" for want of a better word was only introduced a couple of weeks ago, and there was a thread made in the announcements section. Since then we've been demoting, promoting, and genuinely slotting people into the right places bit by bit, but it won't happen overnight. It might be a drawn out process, but sometime soon, people will be posting in the right places based on skill and execution, and not as Rich said, style and craziness. Like i said, your head is in the right place, and i agree with you 100% but it is being worked on :D

@ Rich
thanks for the input mate ;) i agree on everything you said except the showrooms. The reason we have a wider variety is more or less because of what Andy covered. People will strive to make it to the next showroom up and improve their skills over time. Imagine the skill spectrum, then split that into 3 as you propose. That means that low level inter and high end inter would have a huge gap in between. We're trying to make sure people with similar levels of skill are grouped closer together, so they have the opportunity to proceed upwards into the next showroom. Of course, the next stage is the global ranking system which will be introduced at some stage, effectively meaning there will be over 600 "showrooms" if you like. Every chopper will be ranked, and they then have the chance to overtake people in front of them and work their way up the chopping ladder. As for things being difficult to decide and sort out, let us worry about that :D (not meant in a bad way at all) You just concentrate on expanding your photoshop skills to be eligible to earn money from clients :D

Damn a lot of reading but my short say.

I agree with whats going on. I agree a change needs to be made. Cuz yes i'm seeing pro tuners that should be down, niter that should be down. A lot of people got promoted to inter after joining which isn't how DM worked and that was a decent system imo.

In regards to that and how you guys talk of quality, i don't feel in the right place with some peopl in inter who chop at novice level. I'm seeing people in pro who shared inter with me on virtuamods where i got promoted. It seems ridiculous based on where quality gets placed after reading rich's post. He's right. Like me and a few others i know in inter make really realistic and executed chops with flare and don't go anywhere. Rich you're in pro right? Not picking on you but you and i are similar imo with style and skill but you're higher than me

I don't know i'm not really complaining but some people need to move down more than likely. Thanks for everything from everyone so far!
