A guide to blogging on Autemo.
So as you've probably noticed, we recently implemented the new blog system into Autemo giving you, the user the ability to create posts which admins will then verify, and publish. I'm going to write a short guide on how to do this so you can create some awesome content for us to read!
First off, you'll want to follow this link: Here
This will take you to the "Create new blog" page, alternatively you can find this in your user control panel. On this page, you can go ahead and create a blog post. Here's how you can do it:
Title
In the title section, you're going to type in the title of your blog post obviously. This will be the link that people click to view the full post. Bear in mind: Only use letters A-Z and numbers 0-9 here
Image
This box doesn't function properly yet as far as i'm aware, but maybe i'm doing something wrong, so be sure to leave it empty for now, or you'll end up with a broken image icon in your post.
Content
Here is where you create your post! The content works using the 'BBcode' system, meaning you can link, use image tags, make things bold, italic etc, just as you would do in a normal forum post. You'll notice that on other blog entries, there is a section of text that appears on the blog home page. After you click "continue reading" or click the blog title, you'll be taken to the full post, meaning you can view all of the text. To decide which text in your blog you want to appear on the blog homepage in the "preview", just wrap the section of writing you want in these tags: ((PREVIEW))example text((/PREVIEW)) (Be sure to replace the brackets with square tag brackets ( [ and ] ) in both preview tags) Also, you can include an image in your preview.
If you would like to add an image at any point in the post, use normal image tags, and include an image with a width no larger than 680 pixels. Feel free to have this image as a link which takes you to a higher resolution version.
Tags
This is where you add tags. If you're not familiar with what tags are, they're words that will describe the post and show up in searches, bringing back your blog post in a search, and also any other blogs that share the same tags.
Category
This is pretty self explanatory. Using the drop down menu, select what category your blog post falls in to.
After you have completed your blog, hit the "save" button, and it will be submitted for a member of staff to look over, correct any spelling mistakes/breaks in code, and submit for publishing. Be aware that not all blog posts submitted will be published, as the blog is visible to everyone including (potential) clients. Your name will appear as the author of the blog post, with the time and date shown.
Suggestions
If you don't know what to write about, take a look around the forum! Feel free to write about a new chopper on the scene who has blown everyone's mind with his first chop, or a HOF chop that you feel deserves a little more recognition. You could feature an artist interview if you choose, you could even feature a full blog post on a new car being built. Anything automotive goes, so go ahead and search for original content.
Content stolen from other blogs will be automatically denied. After this has been going for a while, we'll look at setting up COTM, editor of the month, and different awards.
Go and have fun!
