so in other words you are doing an satin paint to it
sounds cool i think, but the side just looks too blurry
this is because the transitions of the colors are too big and the huge blur in between them
i would suggest making the color instead fade a bit, to do this i would suggest brushing the "unsharp" area with actually sharpish brush and the colors that are between it
