I would suggest using the original cars paintwork to base your brushing. That way you can get more natural tones. Also the lines between fenders and mainbody shows too dark. Look at other lines on body for help on that.

i like your design ideas, defiantly brush colour and highlights, but this is still an early wip so look forward to seeing more.
