Civic EK4 *Build Up*

Hi everyone,

Used to own a 99 Civic EJ9 few years back and I sold it - biggest mistake of my life. I then drove a C2 VTS Loeb Edition, paid it off in six months and it was time to start hunting for another Civic. After looking at more than five I came across this one. A 1998 Civic EK4 with 62,000 genuine miles. It had to be bought and I got her home! This was what she looked like when I first purchased her:

Came with the following specs:

* OEM front bumper + lip
* OEM rear bumper + type r lip
* OEM sideskirts
* EK9 grille
* Genuine EK9 front headlights
* Facelift rear lights
* Rota Circuit 10's in white 16" on Hancook tyres
* Eihbach lowering springs
* EK9 shocks
* Engine strut mount
* DC2 front caliper conversion
* Full facelift front end conversion including: front arches/bonnet/bumper/lip/headlights
* EK9 spoiler
* Team Heko wind deflectors
* Sidestrips colour coded
* Carbon kelvar penis whale induction kit
* Slimline radiator
* Spoon reservoir socks
* DC sports 4-1 manifold
* Spoon rep de-cat pipe
* Custom middle section
* Magnaflow 5" backbox
* EK9 steering wheel
* EK9 red front recaros
* Integra front and rear floor mats
* DC2 rear bench
* Clear side indicators

Probably some things I've missed!

So the time began to start deciding what I want to do with her. At first I decided I wanted to go USDM. Quickly changed my mind in space of a month and decided I want to go track/road slut! Here are some more pictures of her:

Now its time to start throwing the money at her. She is booked in for three weeks time to get the rear arches replaced and rust removed. After that she goes straight to the paint shop as she'll be getting a full respray! In the meantime from now until then I have a list of parts I'll be ordering to get in over the next couple of weeks. Also have few wear and tear parts to replace. Show season is creeping up on me so need to get this all done as well before MOT!

I'll up-date as I get along. Thanks!

UPDATE:

I went to my local garage and picked up some new apec rear disks as well as rear pads:

While I was there, I picked up some service bits: 5L oil, oil filter and spark plugs:

I then went out later that night and picked up rear parcel shelf, forgot to take pictures though! Also picked up rear vti calipers. They are rough atm, but they were left in yesterday to be refurbished and painted - I get them back later on today. Here is a picture of when I first picked them up:

More parts to arrive on soon - I hope!

UPDATE:

Been ages since I updated this. I had to replace my rear calipers because they had seized and my hand brake wouldn't work properly. So I thought I would change the discs and pads too. I'll eventually get the rear calipers shot blasted and painted when she goes in for paint.

I then replaced the rear calipers with anti-rattle brake pad shims as the noise of them pads previously rattling about were annoying me. If anyone has searched for them before and failed lemme know I've good contact for them now. Also bought fresh new wheel nuts as the ones I had were destroyed.

Then I needed to replaced the bushes in my rear lower control arms, so took the advantage of this and bought skunk2 gold ones (reps):

And then fitted:

At this time MOT was creeping up and when I had went for a MOT check, I had a list of parts to buy which included:

* Inner CV boot driver side
* Outer CV boot driver side
* Droplink passenger side
* Ball joint lower driver side
* Rear driver wheel bearing (came under warranty)
* Upper outer front balljount passenger side
* x2 rear tyres
* Horn wire needed sorted
* Two front seats (had to borrow to standard seats as mines weren't fitted correctly)

Unfortunately no pictures taken as I wasn't their this time when parts where being fitted. However, I got through MOT finally. This is where the modding began. I had lots of parts that I bought of ebay, just needed to fit them and put my brides back in etc. First off I picked up a service kit; oil, oil filter and plugs:

Oil definitely needed changed lol:

I then purchased new suspension as my rear shocks had bust on me. Seen this pop up cheap and to to buy them. Konei shocks and springs all around. Bearing in mind they need a bit of a clean up but I have plans for them anyways soon:

I decided to give the boot area a quick clean. Using acid free stuff and applicator pad took all the nasty dirt off. Here is a before:

After:

Still not happy with it, it'll get a good thorough clean next month when I start to strip the inside. From this point on, it was time to get the standard interior seats in, get my bride seats back in there along with my skunk2 gear stick I picked up:

It was now time to fit my bumper quick release kit, so why I had the front end apart I thought I would tidy up the wires etc. Here's the state she was in:

That's true Rich!

Got an update coming this week, left the car in to get the rust repaired, fixed and arches resprayed the same colour. Fantastic job by the company that done it for me. Going to clean her today and tomorrow and then I'll get the before, during and after photos up!

Also left my Spoon mirrors in to get painted, and my spoiler tilt brackets arrived so should be getting these fitted this week too!
Got my spoiler tilt brackets on now, need better photos though, these were taken at local car meet, this will do for now:
