Cloning Settings

Quick question, when you guys do cloning work to smooth out paint, remove reflections etc., — what is the general setting you use?

I am using a soft brush at a low opacity and I'm starting to get some poor results. I've always had issues with this tool....

I rarely use the clone tool but when I do I use the standard settings except for size and don't have much problems with it. Only problem that shows up is the difference when cloning from a darker area onto a bright area or the other way around. Always have it on a new layer so that it can easily be fixed with dodge or burn tool.
