Good replies in this thread. I will have to give this technique of brushing a go.
I think people have to remember there are a lot of ways to brush. I would hate to see the fading out of "artistic" brush styles like the Turkish brush style, as they're just so unique. I think it's important to develop your own technique and not just copy what others do.
