RULES: Autemo Championships
This year (2013) there will be some slight changes to the rules and requirements for the Autemo Championships.
The major change is the breaking of competitions into separate competitions to run concurrently: Classic & All Star
Click here to see a rough outline of the competition schedule.
Both competitions are open to artists of ALL levels, however the difficultly of the tasks in each competition will be quite different.
The Classic tasks will be easy, choppable bases. These tasks will be similar to those of the Below Pro Challenge.
The All Star tasks will be more difficult, thought provoking, and time consuming. These tasks will be similar to those of the All Stars Competition.
Points will be allocated as shown in this link.
The winner of the 2013 Autemo Championships will be the artist with the highest points tally over their best 6 rounds (rounds where they received the highest number of points).
A key requirement to being eligible to win the Autemo Championships is that you must have competed in at least 3 Classic and 3 All Star rounds. However, in calculating your points tally for your best 6 rounds, rounds of any type will be counted.
This is best illustrated using a hypothetical example of an artist who competed in 5 Classic and 5 All Star rounds. The artist is eligible for the Autemo Championships since they have competed in more than 3 Classic rounds and more than 3 All Star rounds. The artist's best 6 rounds are highlighted.
Classic Round 1: 5th Place = 30 Points
Classic Round 3: 4th Place = 35 Points
Classic Round 4: 7th Place = 26 Points
Classic Round 6: 3rd Place = 40 Points
Classic Round 8: 15th Place = 12 Points
All Star Round 2: 9th Place = 20 Points
All Star Round 3: 6th Place = 28 Points
All Star Round 5: 11th Place = 16 Points
All Star Round 7: 9th Place = 20 Points
All Star Round 8: 3rd Place = 40 Points
So this artists Autemo Championships points tally is the sum of their best 6 rounds:
30 + 35 + 26 + 40 + 28 + 40 = 199 Points
This system has been designed to reward the more talented artists than the previous system. However, it still rewards artists who compete in all the rounds as only your best rounds will be counted towards your points tally.
You may find it is more worthwhile to compete in the All Star rounds than the Classic rounds, since there will likely be fewer competitors in the All Star rounds and hence less competition for points.
There will also be a number of other awards.
- Highest Points tally (all rounds)
- Classic winner
- All Star winner
Another change will be the submission process. Until further notice, entries will be submitted via PM to the user "Autemo Entries" by following this link.
In the PM please provide a small 500px preview image, and a link to the high res of your entry or entries.
It was evident in Round 1 that there were several chops that used a single donor image for the whole chop, which is essentially cheating.
A new rule for Round 2 and beyond is that your donors/references for rims, paint and backgrounds must be from different sources to one another. You cannot simply transplant all three elements from one photo of a car to another.
Furthermore, if you decide to copy and paste from a donor for paint on your chop, this donor cannot be from a car of the same manufacturer or rebadged models (Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86/Scion FR-S) unless you receive approval from a Staff member.
These rules will be completely self governed. If you see an entry that you believe breaks any of these new rules please notify a staff member immediately. If there is indeed a breakage, that member will be disqualified from that round, and potentially future rounds of the Autemo Championships.
These new rules are an attempt to bring back some originality and creativity into chopping, as well as avoiding potential copyright infringements to photographers who have had significant portions of their images used, uncredited.
