ok i need help with illustrator on how to erase certain areas like this



that was done in photoshop and all you have to do in photoshop is select the text by pressing ctrl+ left click and expanding the selection and just deleteing from the layer you want to delete but i cant figure out how to do that in illustrator....

Make a text border in either white or transparent.

OR:
In PS, click two times on the image of the layer
THEN
select the outside border option (or something like that)
THEN
set how may pixels the border has to have and select the whit colour
THEN
set other nearly options to make the wanted results
