Well that is what I am doing, actually fixing things that are wrong with it and then seeing if I actually do want to modify it. Most probably, I won't. I don't see the point in having no handles, as there are more things to go wrong really.

It would be a lot of work/money for something so little. Also you would have to repaint most of the doors if not all, and I'm assuming the paint has faded so it will be difficult to colour-match or otherwise it will be patchy.
I think that rules out shaving the door handles. XD
I reckon some alloy rims since you need new tires anyway. Or another solution is to take the hubcaps off and paint the wheels black like I did. :P

And I am not wanting to do more re-spraying than is necessary. As do I. I was thinking about that, but they are rusted and corroded, and fall apart in your hands, think new ones are needed really. But it's a good plan I think, something I am toying with :).

UPDATE!
Had a look underneath the car today as the ramp was free, and well- I wasn't expecting to find what I did.

Here's a list of the visible problems underneath...
  • Hole in the sump (due to rust).
  • Wishbones are rusted, and really aren't road legal.
  • Cat is rusted, and parts are thin and will have hole in soon.
  • The floor of the car that meets the sill is rusted, and extremely thin.
  • Brakes are rusted, and the dicks have thick rust on. (Only looked at one side, because the bottom bolt of the caliper wouldn't undo and was rounded of severely).

Those are all pretty expensive things to do, and I haven't got the budget. I would have to save up for about 3 years to do two things to it, and well- the problems would have gotten worse by that time, and it's not worth the haslte.

Scrapping, selling on or either donating it to the college that I go to are options we're debating. Shame really, it's a pretty tidy car :(.

So much rust, damn British weather !
Kate, how do you buy a car without full revision of it ? And why 3 years to save cash to fix it,buy some second hand brakes, wishbones and cat.Only the floor needs more work.
Atleast you have a good reason to buy now 6gen Civic(not those british Rover/Honda Civics),I think you will have fun with it :P

Btw I don't like those british civic's,but yours have some charm, too bad you have to scrap it.

I hate it! Doesn't help it's been stood about 2 years doing nothing!
I didn't buy it, we got given it ;).. And I have a job, yes, but for one season (yes, football season), I get about £200, and that's not even about for a cat. Yeah, prices in Britain are sky high for Japanese cars. My dad could do the welding yes, but it's just the rest and budget that's too tight for this car.

I don't think i'd want a EG6, there are WAY to many around where I am. And plus, police know the cars to look for, so that wouldn't be too good. Plus, insurance is way to much for me to have one. I would, definitely get one, but in the future when I have a bigger budget and have the ability to do more work- E.G. Being a mechanic.

I am not keen on them, but this is just a charming car, I don't know what it is about it.. We don't have to, but it's probably the most amount of money we'd get for it in it's condition.. I think I am going to be getting a Toyota Carina E. They're reliable, parts are cheap, no one has one modified. Or did, but it's scrapped now, shame- I would have bought it off him, ahah. Plus, I know what to do with them as we've had two before ;).

Good to know that you didn't gave cash for it,cuz it's strange to give money for car and scrap it few days later :D(if you are not on profit at the end of the day).

About the EG6 - they are really popular here too,but not many interesting projects(exterior and interior I mean,b16 swaps are really frequent),they are and expensive i have to say, parts too...and i can't understand why, they are shitty equipped cars, maybe the best part of those cars are the reliable engines.I'm not biggest Honda fan,but i'm getting one of those for daily car soon(of course if i don't get better offerer for other car).

As i know the insurances in the UK are really expensive, especially for young drivers, that sucks :/.

Good idea to try the Carina, really not popular car to modify.I really got tired to see same cars modifyed the same way, only rims are different color :P

I'd just be loosing money if I did that, and I want as much money as I can get at the moment :).

They are here too, the town is full of them and to be honest, they're not that different from each other. Lowered and wheels. Yeah, not the same, nor the car the same color but it's regular, and I want something that's different, and is better than a civic :D.

Oh it's a killer, way too much! For this civic, it would be £8000+ for me to insure. And for a carina, it's about £1,500 to £3000. Depends on which model I get. Growing up with them (two to be exact), i've learnt a few tricks and things. Like where they're going to rust and stuff. They're great cars, good mpg and bhp for their age. They preserve themselves well.

Plus, half the things you have to do to them has got to be done yourself as there are hardly any body kits, exhausts and similar things. My friend had to import all of his stuff from Germany.. So, it'll be having a personalized touch :P.

I don't know if you can tell, but here is a picture of the engine bay. Extremely low quality, but what would you expect from a blackberry, eh? :/ And the lighting wasn't great due to the ramp being in the darkest corner of a very gloomy farm shed!

I think there is some potential here, and I attempt to actually do something to it before the fate of the car is decided. (Hopefully, fingers crossed they won't scrap it). I have grown to really like this car. Haven't done any work on it recently though, shame really. But now, I am working on it nearly all day, every day.

Going to be trying to solve and fix the idle problem, must be a Honda thing because doing some research it's only happened with Honda's. Mainly Civic's and the Accords. Needs loads more work doing to it. Something is deffinalty wrong when driving, seems to be making a loud squeaking noise and you can feel it vibrating- that will be getting looked into pretty soon.

This is what I am working with!
