Not always. If it looks good in the small image (styling, proportions, lighting, colors and generally the amount of styling in it) I open the hires. Basically if the image is interesting enough I take a better look at the details. Also if the hires especially has been mentioned in the comments I do tend to take a look.

Absolutely agree. Must add though that if it isnt interesting enough i mostly dont tend to comment neither so the ratio of opening highres/comments is pretty good imo.

I prefer to look at the pictures in the resolution they are meant to be seen, and luckily Opera resizes them automatically if I don't tell it not to :P(which is also why I rarely post my HR's). If my screen is 1600X1000 I see no reason to go looking for mistakes on a picture that's 6mp :P. Although I do check them out more when it's a competition voting.
Some men just want to watch the world doing burnouts... :P

You' re right in part, because someone posts before me and i don' t spend too much time here - only showing chops (and watch the women topic :P)

Rarely. For the new/intermediate choppers I comment more frequently, there's very little need to open a higher res image, because detailed stuff just isn't in their skillset yet and its best to let them experiment.

Everything above that I have to genuinely like the chop to want to check the higher res. For instance, stance chop #234524 can forget about me pointing out some jaggies or whatever that appear on high res. When I see people make an effort for their chops I'm more inclined to make an effort for them.
