Nice purchase Zero, with the 18-55/ Hood + Camera + memory card should serve you well, Just save up for a cheap zoom lens and you are all set... for a while...

Until you see the quality baller stuff, then all you'll want to to is upgrade and buy unnecessary stuff.. like me XD

Now go take some pics and learn to use your camera :)

I'd rather he saved up for longer and bought proper glass. The glass is making the pics, not the camera (if it's not brokeo that is), so always put more money in your glass than yourcrt body.
I know Zero ain't exactcally well off so gotta do with what you can. plus hes just starting so no point spending 1k on a lens if he gets bored of the hobby. lens come and go all the time. :P

But if Zero had money, 70-200 f2,8 go go go!!

everyone, never listen to hui, he knows nothing about camera's
the sd memory card he told me to get which had to be class 4 is the one for video's aswell
well 1st time using it today i could only record video's for 5 seconds, my mate said it needs to be class 9 or 10
cheers hui :-q
Honestly, I have a class 2 Toshiba 4gb sdhc card myself and that works for me, I've done videos on that in the past, shot raw's, no problems.

While writing this I just tested 5 video recording on my own camera.
1 @1280x720, 60 second video and that didn't cut out at all.
1 x 1289 x720 39 second video
1 x 1289 x720 49 second vid with music in the background so its not just recording pictures
2 x 1920 x 2080 25 fps, 50 seconds videos, sound on, no cutting out.

I also did a look up on google and people say their class 4's work although would recommend class 6, I know it's not the fastest card, but it really does work for me, Like I said, mine's a class 2 ffs

Have you formatted the card first before using?

Sandisk 16GB «Extreeme HD Video» 30 MB/s
Sandisk 16GB «Extreeme Pro» 45 MB/s
Sandisk 8GB «Ultra» 15 MB/s

The Extreeme Pro is so awesome when it comes to video recording, so thats highly recommended!
