Yeah it is a strange choice at first. I wouldn't go for it myself but I gotta say I'm surprised the CE28's look pretty good on a w201. Not too weird, at least.
EDIT: Stumbled into photos of the new Alpine Renault A110-50. Looks fantastic, great detailing! I'm not yet keen about the side profile though. It could look more balanced to me if the side window reached a little further to the back.
