Chop looks decent, if they guy said you can use the rims/tyres whatever use them. Have you asked permission to use the design though?

Now I don't want to come here and stir things up, but I'm just wondering who really deserved the warning here...

Take a look at these and tell me what you think. Coincidence, I think not!

@ klaus: i get what you mean, and im not joining any side of this argument since you guys all are right imo. the reflections are the exactly same and i dont know if he asked jack for permission to use it as a reference but still it is only used as a reference for the reflections, the car is different and it is red instead of orange but on the other hand, this is to much of a rip-off from jacks work since the rims, tires and reflections are exactly the same and now over to the other side again.... he have explained the rims, he have had the discussion about them with jack and jack havent complained about him using it as a reference, if it were only for the paint i would say it was ok imo since it is like using any other reference you find online, the one he use now is created by jack, but there is always someone who creates the pictures originally. as i said before i think you all are right since it´s only a reference and it´s not jacks paint, but still it is way to similair to jacks entire chop

Technically Asoaresb hasn't done anything wrong. As you said, it's a different colour, it's rebrushed and it's a completely different design too.

But the problem remains is it morally right? Is it right for copy the brushing and reflections that Jack took hours upon hours to select the right places for the reflections and the right tones? I guess it's fine if it were Jack's tutorial but this wasn't a tutorial.

Now it could be said that "it's a studio background - of course the reflections will be the same" but a fact still stands. Does every car in a studio background have the same refs? Of course not - there are obviously going to be lights in different spots and the angle will be slightly different, such that the refs may be completely different.

There's absolutely no reason to be using someone else's chop for a reference picture. Plus you'll get a much more realistic and satisfying outcome if you use your own imagination or a real photo as a reference picture.

i know exactly what you mean klaus, as you said studio light chops look alot different, jacks concept had reflections that i have never seen in a studio light enviroment wich made it uniqe and the fact that he is using jacks tutorial is awesome, i think jack is super glad he does but as you said, it´s morally wrong since he use jacks uniqe reflections wich could never be mistaken, he should have used another donor but jacks methods since jack did the tut for people to use but not for them to re create jacks own work

I think that this chop must be treat like that, i know what you meant its wrigt but come on , when you are a begginer, we all took some references from another choppers, or bg or whatever we found at that time and that kind of experience...

the refs aren't the final, i used some parts as a reference i admit, but if i changes a few centimeters. What's the difference?

the front ref is very close to the jack's chop and i will change . Technically i'm not doing nothing wrong, but in the end will change many things to be different. i tried to do the same to starting see some good painting.

I didn't want to mention anything about the brushing because technically as mentioned above, you haven't done anything wrong as it's not copied and pasted directly off my work. I'm flattered that you like the chop enough to use it as reference, of course I am, but at the same time i'd prefer if the paint didn't look identical to mine.

The reasoning behind it is that i've spent quite a few years developing my own technique, my work is such that if you see it without a signature, you would recognize it as mine.

It's a really difficult subject to broach, I've seen it in the past with other chops and other choppers but it's not really something you can condemn. The tutorial I made was an example of how I work, and it generalized my technique enough so you could adapt it to your own work, not just follow it step by step, letter for letter to recreate what I did.
