started on a revell / monogram 1969 dodge charger r/t ..

the plan is to do it a bit like the restomods .. i will use the kit engine and leave that stock ..
but the idea is to build it as close to stock body wise but change a few things so it will have that more modern feel without anything sticking out

1888452_429932520472997_1699386937_n.jpg

weird build plan it looks like they want you to put the taillights against the back but imo they need to sit like this from behind ..

1507584_429934107139505_28053388_n.jpg

first i flattened the whole bottom of the rear bumper so the bottom line is straight

10006203_429934103806172_18598137_n.jpg

then sanded of the chrome .. not bothered to dechrome because i will sand a lot of material of the rear bumper anyway and reshape it

1939991_429934113806171_1279623315_n.jpg

because i wanted flush seems and the seem below the bumper is very wide on a real dodge i placed it against the bottom .. that way the recess for the lisense plate on the bumper met up with the ongoing recess in the bottom splash pan ...

1800255_429934143806168_520927293_n.jpg

the made it all flat so the bumper was flush with the splash pan and didnt stick out the sides , platicwelded some styrene on the top

rough bondo

1797516_429934190472830_1244340006_n.jpg

a example > i want mine to have much rounder lines but the idea is something similair

i drilled open the recess of the dueal reverse lights .. i think it micht be cool to put in the reverse lichts deep / sunken ...
or i could just clean it and no reverse ....

1920167_430004237132492_1881404896_n.jpg

sanded off the edge alog the wheel well that resembles a chrome strip and flattened the rear quarters

1959382_430004227132493_1899412458_n.jpg

and flattened the trunk and did the panellines on the trunk

1958417_430004243799158_2077142334_n.jpg

real rough but coming together

the front need a lot of work to begin with it doesnt fit good and second if i look at stock chargers i get the feeling its not 100% accurate .. but no worry the front will become a bit sleeker also

Nice. That Mercury is the shiniest model car I've seen. And the Charger will be inspirational, as I have the same kit here, dusty and in need of a rebuild. I wanted to do a Geneal Lee this time, the first time I built it as a restomod-tourer, with Porsche wheels (from a toy) and very classy Leopard spotted interior...(sorry for the awful photo, the car is really red metallic, not orange...)

that looks nice zyko , the red and white rood match great and i like those wheels !
if i where you i would try to do the interiour and polish (read clean) it up on the outside ....and leave it as is ...

wheel wise i want to try and create custom wheels myself maybe even use the rt wheels as a center for bigger 2-piece wheels .. if i cant come up with anything nice i will look for rims online

Thans, but I really really want a General Lee replica ;) I even have the correct 426 Hemi in a '67 Plymouth GTX (equally dusty :P) If I ever get time, I have a '70 Challenger model too that I haven't built yet, so I could go for a 'Death Proof' two car diorama, and put the 440 from the Charger in the Challenger, then put the 340 from the Challenger in the Satellite to make a nice cruiser out of it (this must sound like a code to someone who doesn't love muscle cars as much as I do...)
PS, there are a lot of cheap toy cars with nice wheels out there if you look around a bit. They can also donate interior parts and spoilers and stuff if you need them for other builds.

1508577_430686063730976_2082219805_n.jpg

made the rear bumper one piece with teh splashpan , made panellines on the side .. still very rough but after finetuning it will become a snug fitting rear bumper painted in bodycolor as a modern twist - mod
