Thanks! I took a peek in your works and I like your Corolla a lot. Superb styling on that one!

About the paint, yeah, somehow it doesn't look as good as the orange. I had the green paint in my mind right from the start but I think I should try out a lot of paints later. Thanks for the comment.
Try a yellow one , and try to make some shapes mose precise , triangles everywhere looks too edgy , something should match with the round exhausts for example , other than that it looks really nice , i admire your patience and motivation to work on it :-d
Edit : I mean changes on small things , on details , not changing of the whole design , something like the headlights/taillights maybe .

I mean something like that , I know the quality is bad , but i tried to show you what i think and i hope you can understand it right .
After all it's really a nice concept , we all have different taste for things , so the most important things is for you to like your own creation , good luck and enjoy working on it :-d
The unorthodox placement of the front lights is a strong defining factor on this car. It's also quite a lot of modelling work to change the headlights' shape and placement at this point. I do appreciate the input, thank you for that!

Still a lot of work to do on this one until I can call it finished but I can't wait to start designing another car! :D
Would love to see more , good luck with all your projects :-d
ahh ,when i see your work in 3d i remember how stupid i was i dont start to learn 3d ,nice render man, i'm curious how it will look at finish ,i hope you will give more color

Progress is ssssloooowww. Setting up the materials for non-real time rendering is such a pain in the ass. I'm considering about switching to real-time rendering like what I have accustomed to at work.

Anyway, I tried a new set-up for the paint, mostly played around with the light-facing colour (added a light source into the scene, previously there was none) and paint flakes. I reckon the green paint looks a lot better now but it also feels like there's something weird going on with the flake settings because I can't get them to work logically. Flake decay (=simulates the distance which the flake effect disappears from the view) setting of 0 (=no decay) gives the result in this render and turning it up by only 0.001 all of the flakes disappear from everywhere! There should be a lot of range in there but at the moment it's giving me on or off. Annoying trying to set it up when it "works" like that, darn it!

I also made a test for the lights' texture but I'm not satisfied with these. They just don't look right. I would probably need to fiddle the shader's self-illumination settings (or more like, find out what kind of colours and contrast works best for it) and set up the headlight glass material better.
Looks good to me ... Starting to like the triangle headlights now ! :-d
I thought I posted this last night.

I took a new scene, imported the car body in and played around with the car paint settings. It seems like the flakes (and the metallic effect) are working properly now. Dunno what's wrong with the other file so I thought I'd start over with the materials in a new file and work from that.

Also, if anyone knows of a sweet background in a dark garage I could use, link it to me!
Dang it! I was thinkin' I'd play Batman Arkham Origins all evening but somehow I felt the call of mental ray and had to do some renders! :D

So I went and touched up the three of the four main materials used on the car. Carbon already looks good so I didn't do anything to it. Next up I should really make some texture details (such as the mesh patterns for all the holes in the body kit).

Car paint with smaller flakes

Black plastic. The tires will be a variation of this material.

Chrome. Mirrors will be a variation of this, almost identical except a bit darker.

Bonus render! Car paint as pearlescent orange.
