I think we should have something that " praise" the person who wrote a comment on a thread, like, you write a comment, and the person who did the chop / wrote the thread " etc, can rate that comment as helpfull or none helpfull or from a scale t 1-5 stars.

let say one person that wrote loads of good comments on many threads, gets mant 5 " star comments, that person also get a " rating " score on his personal profile, also by the end of each month, the person with the higest rating, get to chose the Base or start a specified competition or even gets to create a somethin ON autemo, that will on the looks of the site, lets say a new " button " , page background, etc just someting that person did and it would be shown for 1 week, and or maybe hes chops and of profile gets on the front page for 1 week, just something to give that person who was most helpfull to get more PR .,

Also you could only win 1 time and would then have to wait until someone else has won 3 times before that person could be the most " helpfull" person again, just to avoid that the same person was chosen more then once .

I think something like that would help

glac
Good suggestions Glac.

Something like... "The original poster rated this comment as 4/5 stars".

Perhaps this could be a multiplier for the amount of helpful votes... For example:

A chop comment gets 4 helpful votes in NCA section. Because NCA comments are triple points - that commenter gets 12 helpful votes. However, the OP gave the comment 4/5 stars - so the number of helpful votes is (4/5)*12 = 48/5 = 9.6 helpful votes (instead of the full 12).

Or am I making it too complicated?

There should definitely be rewards for people who provide helpful comments (as you suggest). Maybe some sort of "Member of the Week" award that the forum automatically calculates. This could relate with the new awards system that is potentially being built into the profiles.

Tbh if we have to start rating comments outa five that's tooooooo complicated.
Keep it simple with just a "helpful" button I say, otherwise we'll just end up with a mini version of what we have with the chop rating system

Yep, I think helpful votes will be enough to determine who is writing good comments, and who isn't. A voting system is redundant.

At the same time, I don't think an up/down vote system would be enough for something like chop rating, since people would be to afraid to downvote imo - and you'd be getting a lot of flame wars initiated by people downvoting in my opinion. 5 stars would work better as people would be less afraid to give a 3 (which = 6 in the current system) as it's only "two points from 5". It's more of a psychological thing than anything else.

I didn't understand well the question of the calculation of rates of helpfull comments of chops, but I think It's a good idea the reward... We (all the users) have to develop it ;)
Rates: 1 stolen 4 very bad 6 acceptable 7 realistic + nice 8 very good 9 awesome 10 awesome + epic
Agree^ :F I just think people dont get enough back from being helpfull and thats why they dont care :)
5* is more reasonable I think, however people are still going to be reluctant to use the bottom end of the scale, especially in the lower forums such as inter and NCA.

So just had this thought:
Once a chopper has reached "Pro" they generally have a good feeling for chopping and aren't likely to be easily demoralised by a poor vote, to the point where they might think "oh what's the point". In other words they can take what they get xD
So what I'm saying is perhaps only enable voting say 1-5 in pro+.

The other reason for this is that at present, a chopper in NCA or inter can sometimes have higher ratings than people in pro or advanced etc... which seems a bit silly...

I never thought of it in that way, but you're right! Voting is pretty irrelevant in the lower end forums. It would also solve the issue of people who improve rapidly, but their rating is weighed down by a lot of low votes when they were NCA/Inter artists.

Just go for a rep system regarding comments. No need for silly comment ratings when the chop ratings arent doing well to begin with.
