Yes please.
I have chops that, when finished, won't be what I like to post in inter to eventually try and make pro with.
But quickie wouldnt be right either. Nor would the new area be.
Having read the past few posts i've realised that maybe we're looking at this wrong.

What is a chop? As far as I'm aware it started out as a mission to create a interpretation of potential mods. Therefore a chop should be realistic.
However it has evolved into an art form, a challenge.... and a bit of fun..

As the clients often need convincing renders - they don't want a cartoon.
But autemo is also about art, and art supposedly cannot be classified as 'good' or 'bad' - but on that basis ranking should be irrelevant and non-existant... so another solution is needed.

The class system was a lot easier to judge in the days of DM, with just 3 forums, however i agree with the big leaps that BCS mentioned. So all I could say is one forum needs to go.

The way I see it:
->Novice and low end inter contain what would have been considered novice on DM
->Top end of inter and low end of pro - inter on DM
->Top end of pro, advanced and elite were considered Advanced on DM...

That, is where the problem lies... the showrooms are scewed, the top levels have not enough between them.
But i think a whole new class system should be agreed upon, and the discussion between admins is worth while for high end work.

BRING BACK THE 'PROMOTE THIS GUY BUTTON' - maybe have an alert pop up when a certain number of people have clicked it, notifying admins that a 'conference' should be held, otherwise work may be missed, or friends of admins will get priority. But the key would be only after a certain number of votes - investigating every vote would be time consuming and often a waste of time. More votes would suggest that it is more likely to be promotion worthy...

But i'll have a proper think and maybe come up with some proper ideas

As far as i'm concerned the "problem" is just that people are becoming better and better so it's harder to decide whether the artist is pro or inter or whatever. For example, I consider (from my point of view) my Lancer to be better than inter (The overall is pretty clean, but they are few mistakes that I should have seen before). However when I see some chops I can't consider myself as pro, and by far sometimes.

But in the end I don't really give a fuck, I just enjoy the atmosphere here, everyone is nice and you can improve easily.

I disagree - the rims are fitted badly and are of a low quality
the bg isn't perfect either... the shadow really lets it down.

As for the brushing .. it's okay, but there is a lot of room for improvement.
Intercooler is also off...

The chop just seems to lack in something... that's why it's not pro

In my opinion what J_HUI said "everyone's chops are unique" is definitely true.
I didn't read all of these posts, but there are a lot of great ideas, what could make things easier. After all the best is "BRING BACK THE 'PROMOTE THIS GUY BUTTON" :D
I've been chopping since 2007 and made a lot of chop :) some of them are good some of them are better or worse, but commenters already told me that i should be promoted. That's not my task to decide but the early mentioned things should be considered. (sry for my bad english :P)

This is why I also said I don't consider myself as pro.. But some chops in higher levels are also low quality by the way.
I'm not looking for a promotion actually, what I meant with the example of my chop is to show that my chop is better than some inter but not enough for pro. And i'm not the only one in that case. As for me I don't really care i'm already having fun here.

Very interesting thread.

As ATC said, to me, the best idea is perhaps to do like it was on DM with only 3 class. In a way with this 5 class, there's not enough different between the different level espacially between elite and adv i think (except some of the god of VT like hugo etc... :P). For example, i've been promoted to elite but i see a lot people in advance that are almost as good or event better than me...
But i understand that for some people, promotion could be a motivation to improve, and yeah, with only 3 class there will not be a lot of promotion.

I've also read a few guys saying that realism is the most important point in VT and i don't agree with that. Do you mean that, for example, Roobi or all turkish chopper are not some of the best on the VT scene !?! No way :omg:
Everyone as his own style (that makes art a beautiful thing) and i don't think we can say "this style always is better than this one" as soon as the chop is awesome, it's just a matter of taste ;)
A chop must always been judge on the OWERALL: technically, atmosphere, originality, design etc ....

Talking about technic, i'm of those that think that brushing is not better than c&p but it's true that brushing open so more door to creativity.

+1 to "BRING BACK THE 'PROMOTE THIS GUY BUTTON"

Anyway, this is an hard discussion with so many good opinion, but to conclude i think the forum is allready working very well, with nice people, atmosphere and admins and until then, i've never seen any big injustice in the promotion :)

I love autemo <3
There is full of ideas on this topic I see...
It could be great if there is only 3 chopping levels, but it`s not fair of course.3 levels of chopping is probably good idea,we could join New and Intermediate artists,Pro and Advanced artist, and last Elite!
About brushing,I agree with RAS,all choppers have different style, some of them makes relistic chops (Cop for example),some of them make atmospheric chops ( brianspilner ),some of them makes totally different style...
& just like RAS said: +1 for "Promote this guy button"

Haven't read all 4 pages of this but honestly I think I should be promoted because although I'm not a stunning brusher, I strive realism in every chop and come up with pretty interesting and unique ideas. Many in pro are better than me but I've been chopping since 2005 and I've done client work before. I feel I deserve promotion to be able to continue work with clients, especially being one of the few from the United States region.

Just my .02 since I've been in the chopping community a damn long time

My last several chops have been of that level I believe and had votes for pro which depresses me a tiny bit

Matt, go make a new chop, get Danny and everyone to help you. If it's good enough, then pro you go ;P

Because some of your chop are really good, but just not consistent throughout your gallery. So I want to promote you because of your skills, not because we are friends. So if you got some spare time, try to make a new chop to show me what you can do, Your C/p chops are really good, but often some parts aren't blended in properly or the inner archs of cars are empty. But honestly I think that race Bmw 3 and the Mazda 3 are pro worthy

In short I really think:
-Make Elite and Advance into one gallery, so it's more active??
-Bring back the "Promote that J_HUI guy" button, makes my life easier XD
-Rename the Quick chop section to something that allows chopper to post chops that are good, but know it's not up to usual standards.

-You can't really say Full brush or c/p is better, results matter more, I prefer to see a balance of atmosphere and car mods and usually prefer realism. But I do love the style which most Turkish members do, a shiny paint and crazy vents/ bodykits, which I can't do if my life depended on it.

-As for ratings, I really dont know how to tackle this, I know mark has something planned with this, But personally I think it doesn't work so well, too many bias votes or troll votes which aren't done seriously which usually makes me have to delete them. (voting 1 on 10 chop threads in a row!)

Anyways, that's my bump for the thread. Thanks for all the great input guys. Very helpful stuff :)
