One tip I have is use the smudge tool a lot. That's what I'm doing. Like for brushing that guy I'd put the basic colours down and then use the smudge tool to make the folds and creases on his clothes. Make sure you have the smudge tool work on pressure sensitivity, so the harder you press the more it smudges. I did something similar too when I brushed the rear window and boot lid
