I think, most importantly, we need to get wtb 2013 started while it's still 2013...
get on with making teams and sort the rest out later :)
Some men just want to watch the world doing burnouts... :P

It'll definitely start in 2013, last years comp discussion started around mid Feb, so we aren't too far behind... XD

When you are right, you are right <3 Zyko, I'll make a discussion thread and team register thread in the morning to see whos interested.

We should back to the past in WTB, do you remember how many amazing entries we had? That was awesome ;)

This was my thoughts on how this year's should be run. The last couple of WTB we tried a few different things to spice things up, and gather some media attention. That failed and all we were left with was chops that didn't match up to previous years.

Here's what I wrote in a Staff Discussion thread about what should be done this year:

This year I'd like to see the WTB going back to its roots. This means:
  • No prize money - it complicates things (and I don't think we can afford it)
I think for most, the WTB is about the unique experience it offers and not the prize money. There are very few people on this forum that chop as a source of income - everyone does it for fun. So I don't think prize money is necessary for the success of the WTB.

  • Simple, open themes (no speculative renders, etc.)
In some ways I think the restrictive themes of last year discouraged creativity. The emphasis on "realism" wasn't taken the right way by many teams, and it meant that chops failed to impress. Chopping is an artform, and I think many of the chops last year seemed to treat it as a science. Remove these restrictive themes and I think we'll get better entries.

  • Re-introduction of public voting (no prize money = less emphasis on accurate voting)
With a greater importance on the WTB being "fun", the accuracy of results become less significant. I find it hard to believe we can "force" people to be more creative and original through the opinions of a few people who we deem to have superior knowledge. Public voting also allows the community to feel involved with the WTB rather than disconnected, as it is when there's a judging panel. More public hype and attention is likely to result if the community feel invested in the WTB.

More lenient rules on international teams?
I know perhaps uber strong teams could be formed, but would that not lead to some incredible and inspiring chops, something which the wtb of late has lacked?

Just a thought xx

I want to agree with Andy, because might end up being more fun and produces better chops. But the W in WTB kinda loses it meaning then...

It's a good idea in essence, but I disagree with it in WTB. We've had too much issues with it in the past, what samvesters said is true, and in my opinion it defeats the purpose of a country vs country. Consider WTB like an olympics of chopping. You don't see an international team competing in that..

For this year, I'd really like to see WTB go back to its roots, like 2008-2009. Keep the rules simple, make sure they're enforced and don't deviate beyond them.
Ok, but please make a judge panel instead of public voting!
Rates: 1 stolen 4 very bad 6 acceptable 7 realistic + nice 8 very good 9 awesome 10 awesome + epic
But we are hearing alot of shouts for public voting Sharry.

I know there will be some cheat voting/ fake accounts, so we'll try our best to find out those fake accounts, but Im really keen for going back to basics and how things were back in 08-11

WTB needs to go back to public voting. It sucks for admin to have to tally them all up, but it keeps the competition fair, open and puts the control back in the hands of the public. I think all of those factors are very important.

Basically the answer is simple - go back to the way it was in 2008-09. That format proved to work the best.
