Just noticed that ATC's idea of "average points per comp" was ripped off me!!! :P I knew it sounded familiar XD

Erm.. my post about average scores was above your post about average scores? XD Take a look. I suggested average points before you even posted on the thread XD I think you'll find that you ripped the idea of me ;) ;)

Anyway yeh - generic bases are better - everyone enjoys them and gives everyone a chance to compete. And what's wrong with c+p anyway? C+p is a skill itself ...

No, I was referring to the fact that in my post, I quoted another post from me from another thread here: http://www.autemo.com/forums/?t=6484&p=3 (on page 3)

You'll find in the second last paragraph I refer to a system of average points... and that was in 2010!

It's nice to see people posting about new ideas and contributions to innovate the way we view chopping. Here's my opinion (I'm posting here as a member, not an admin as the majority vote will always win due to Autemo being community driven!)

I think we should keep the Championships as they are this year but with a few small changes to ensure everybody is catered for. What I propose is we run 2 Autemo championships side by side - one for pro tuners and below, the other for advanced and above. This takes care of the big skill gap.

Secondly, the championships last year used a LOT of older popular JDM bases due to it being the JDM championships, something that was mentioned earlier on in the year despite the fact that toward the end we started changing things up a bit due to people becoming bored.

Thirdly, the voting system is flawed, but it functions perfectly as a voting system. The solution to the dud votes is to have staff checking a bit more actively and fine combing through the voting and entries to ensure nobody is voting for their friends and leaving other people out.

The actual points system works exactly as it should so I personally see no reason to start introducing averages or new points, anything like that.
Hello.
I refuse to only go against people pro tuner and below (and they will say the same after a couple of rounds)

Must agree to be honest. I'd say go up against people your own level, then it's an equal contest and it's totally fair.

yes but there would be no real competition in adv and elite tbh
Something like new/inter and pro/adv/elite would be good, as you can starting to see some nice chops from pro tuners, new/inter just have a big gap with pro.

Ok guys, while we're all giving our proposals, here's mine. I've tried to incorporate a bit of a mix between the two rivalling ideas in this thread. Remember this is only a draft proposal.

The Autemo Championships in 2012 will consist of rounds of 3 weeks. Voting will be run over the week following the deadline. The competition type will alternate between each round.

The first type of round is a Classic round. The staff will choose a base that is deemed to be easy to work with and having great tuning potential. There are no restrictions on the competition, other than the work must be completely original and your own. This will be a lot like the majority of the rounds of 2011.

The second type of round is a Challenge round. The staff may choose a base that may be a little more challenging, perhaps due to it's angle, body lines, age, etc. As an alternative, the staff (at their discretion) may choose to have a theme for the competition - much like the steampunk Jeep competition. One restriction is that the theme (if there is one) should be followed. This will be somewhat similar to the steampunk Jeep and miscellaneous competitions of 2011.

I'm not 100% sure if people will like this, but it seems to be a logical solution to what people have suggested in this thread. It offers a bit more challenge like nordic man and Construct have suggested, while retaining the basic format that was successful in 2011.

I'd still like to see an average points per round scoreboard, as it offers an opportunity for those not so regular choppers to still see where they stack up against the rest. Even if it isn't the primary leaderboard it would still be interesting to look at and relatively easy to code.

With the problem KTB raised about it being too difficult for newbies to compete, why not then include a "Novice Championships" between NCA and Intermediate choppers (I think if it were level based as KTB suggested, there would be too few competitors every round). Each round could be much like a Classic round of the Autemo champs (discussed before) with simple bases with lots of potential. Perhaps having the comps on a more regular basis (every 2 weeks rather than 3) could be an idea, as newbies tend to chop a little more regularly and quickly.

This way, NCA and Inter choppers wouldn't be restricted from entering the Autemo champs if they would like the challenge (which may happen with JD's plan). The Novice Competition would be like a stepping stone onto the more competitive Autemo Championships.

thank you admins for runnig competions :)
here is my idea..

better to mark entries with numbers for voting..
no1.10 pts
no2.9 pts
no.3 8 pts
.

.
.

no need to show artists name beside the entry, its not fair :(
some people may vote for their friend's chop..
you dont agree with me guys?
atc mate? :)
klaus?
and other ppl?

atc mate,u said ''Cos as the current competition stands, new choppers have no real chance of winning...''

new chopers (even a good chop from a new artist) dont have a chance to win becuse most of people may rate for pro, advanced and elite artists,or older members
its the main cus i think..

I think many or most people agree to a point, but it will be very hard to make it work, because many people have an easy recognizable style, and if they have friends they want to vote it would be easy to show them which chop is theirs. It has been discussed and tried (at least elsewhere, I don't remember if we did it here?) and it will never be completely fair...

There may be no contest in it, but that's because they are already at the top of their game. From new to inter, it's all about learning and progressing. And there are alot of people who post their chops on here in the right section, but they get skimmed because all people want to look at, is the advanced, pro and elite choppers. So they have no real way of improving.

If there was a competition, I think that they would get more feed back, and might be able to advance more. Yes, there is a tutorial section, and yes- there are some higher ranking choppers that really do help out- and I am really grateful that they do so :D. This is just my view. If there were a contest for new and inter- they'd improve. More people would give feedback. And therefore, alot of choppers would be happier.
