Fingers crossed the blog system could be up tonight. Once it's done, from there I'll re-investigate into the GRS as I've just had a brainstorm and have a new idea for the way the algeroth (lol) could work. Then I'll do the comps and start whatever development needs to be done there too.

ATC, good to hear from Elvis. Do you get the chance to chat with him much? Tell him I said hi too next time you speak with him.
Also, I was thinking, is there a way to lose GRS points? Because from what I've seen they just go up, and up and up. I think there should be some sort of percentage of your total points that should be subtracted each day (not too much of course, but enough to keep the score not ridiculous). That way, if a new (and good) chopper joins autemo they will be able to get their ranking up pretty quickly and not be disadvantaged from joining late. Also I think it would help newbies as they might feel disheartened by starting with such low points in comparison with others who have been longer term members, who may be of similar skill level.

Hadn't thought about that before - the timer based idea of reducing points could be usable. I'll add this to my thoughts when starting work on the whole system again.

Points are influenced by positive and negative actions - thus they do go up and down. The negative possibilities aren't as numerous as the positive actions however. There are more ways to earn points than to lose points. A couple of ways for points to be deducted for eg: When admins have to delete a post, points are subtracted (it's like a fine/fee); when you like a post you're deducted 1 point and the other person has 1 point added (it's like a gift). This is so that one can't just merrily go around and like all their friends posts for no good reason without a consequence. To an extent it's like an in-forum currency. The currency has to be 'earned' from doing good chops and whatnot, then they can be distributed/subtracted accordingly, depending on what actions you take.
Can someone make a post stickied to the chatbox for the stance voting to remember to vote fairly for the cars in the middle of the pack? The voting for the BMW 2002 was really bad after the top 5. Looked like people left the order completely random

Regarding Comp Voting System

The current system is a bit of a mess, however you look at it, so after much thought, and several different ideas I have come up with a proposal.

Step 1
Select an official judging panel of a few respected choppers. They would each vote in much the same way as normal, creating an official ranking. (Those on the panel who had entered themselves would vote last, placing their chop in the average position given by the others). [Members of the panel would have to apply, and would then be selected]

Step 2
Votes tallied and the order finalised. Then we go back to the traditional voting, however, only allow the top 10 or 15 to be re-ordered, allowing them to fight out for the points. Those below will remain as the judges deemed (as often it is these that are unfairly placed - realistically they have no fair chance of points). This reduces the risk of totally outrageous votes, and helps reduce the laziness factor. At the same time it eliminates the annoying, difficult and time consuming method in place for round 15 voting.

We need a solution, could this be it? Thoughts please.

Sounds great, but wouldn't that cause a lot of works to admins?

I think the new voting system is great and dont need any changes.

Only one problem is...people delete own votes and make new one, spying results.
It has been playing on my mind a lot lately about the voting. One thing that I think we'll end up doing is having a closed panel for every competition instead of having open voting. Most people vote on the entries purely for something to do and to make up numbers, the majority however as we can see in our admin panel vote purely to help their mates out.
Hello.
Yeh, I definitely think some sort of closed voting with a proper panel is needed.
Yet at the same time, it would be nice to have a community say.

Maybe the best way around this is to have the panel elected by a community vote, then essentially the community is still getting it's views across, but the votes can be properly adjudicated and fairness to the entrants prevails.

On average there tend to be around 40-50 votes cast with each comp, soooooo - 10 to 20 panel members? They each cast their votes in the old system, giving reasons in the boxes provided. Votes and reasons can then be posted for all to see. Any problems or queries can then be directly dealt with/explained.

But let's see if we can come up with a solution before the next set of votes are to be cast... the current system just isn't practical, and the old one is unfair :/

Me and Mark need to go through some Autemo stuff in the near future so i'll make sure it's discussed then. We'll make sure there's a community say in things, probably by means of a panel of member which changes with each round chosen by us, including admins too.
