thats a pretty neat collection jonsibal, i like the european models, i dont have many of those
yet.
I have only just found this thread, so i thought i'd post just a few of my models.
99% are !:18 scale, and most are in pristine condition.
there are a few i have modified, lowered, changed wheels ...etc.
some are limited editions (1 in 1000), and a few hard to get models.
it's taken me about 10 years to collect them from all over the world
some dm members or vm members might recognise my projects
custom build garage by me ...
used all sorts of junk the walls are made of styrofoam and i cratched out all the bricks by hand
everything weathered
its not finished yet due to an accident last year (broke a finger) i could not continue
what you see is 50% done
note exept the carss everything you see is scratch made nothing bought (incl. tools / bridge bench etc.)
Had a though about going to a model shop at the weekend to find a model car to re-paint Camel Yellow. Not decided what yet, just need it cheap and black interior.
started of with a hudge (in real life ) 1934 packard
demantled and rough set up how it could look
problem 1 the framerails and fenders are one piece
no frame and backside ... what to do ??
well start cutting , i can tell you never saw such tough steel on a modelcar it was massive
took ages because to much cutting would be the end of the frame
damn footstep things and backside also have to go i just need the damn frame rails
never cut to much at ounce test fit in between
let the edges stick out they will be grinded smooth at a electric grindbench
rear side all cut open to get rid of the suitcase styled rear
finer grinding the metal into the shape desired , starting to look like a hotrod now
polished frame rails , bling bling
even more polished frame .. shiny as hell also removed the top bar of the window
rough works and bondo
test spray , smooth enough hey
frame so far sprayed (for now) and polished
the rear (will be smooth later on) axles need to go there still
awsome gloss but i wanted to make a vintage horrod and semi matt black was a must for me
the white gloss was only to check for imperfections
test fit and re-asembly
then disater struck i tried to repaint the wheels with red but the tyres where like not coming off and basicly the rims would break , i wanted the red rims with white walls so bad i tried masking tape
usually im good with that now disaster
to make a long story short they where ruined so i ordered rims from internet
not what i wanted style wise but i could not find rims like the ori's anywhere
so i had to do something
started the engine while waighting for wheels
simple engine , needs to look more realistic , the belt is one peice casted lol
looks more like poelies and a belt now
top rebuild torn all the stupid pastic off and ...
carburators hell yeah moon thing was printed out on the pc
got these for a beetle (too small for the hotrod)
hotrod wheel time check the included drum brakes
well some last pics random , its not 100% finished you see some scratch exhaust manifolds
and basic set up
i have chosen to get the roof on because it kinda looked badd ass
this was my first hot rod and i want to make a nother one more vintage styled as where here due to some parts and the loss of te wheels kinda ruined the plans
also this was running along the garage project and my broken finger kinda ruined it / made i could not finish it
this summert i will continue because in the winter its too cold in my workplace even with heating its not real comfatable
WOW!
and here i am thinking i have it tough trying to find lacquer for polycarbonate paint. THat project is huge and stunning work. Really like the end result Rich.
well why not post this one as well
forst evr re-build i did , never ever custom re-build a modelcar
the idea was to take a dtm mercedes and make it a road version
wide low and agressive
a lot of bodymods (subtile but a lot of bondo work went into this one)
well known model already disasembled
the build
yes you can remove this printed advert stuff with metal polish (also removes scratches)
where did the arch vents go ?(also sticked out so grinding was neccesery)
not smooth enough more bondo
nice round lines
btw most people soak their models cars to bare metal , never do this just sand till its smooth
then use bondo.. saves a lot of unneccesery work
and the small edges will never get as good as they where when you make it bare metal
rear vents also have to go dont be afriad to use bondo (mine is polyester based and gets rock hard , not easy to sand in shape but ounce hard its soo strong (as strong as the metal of the car)
cleaned out a strip here
fuell cap cleaning the fake bolt things have to go , they kill realism
no side exhausts on my version gonna make dual rear ones (road version)
rear lip is gonna be one piece to the bumper and will get a changed shape later on
not paint but spray filler
well something weird happened i cant right click the tags anymore i think i need to restart the rest will follow later on
well a new attempt internet is a bit crazy tonight
start of a brand new rear bumper design
cf clear coated
wide sucker
then the fb was to high and the dtm splitter could not stay
so more bondo this was the hardest part of tyhe build to make a new shape with flowing lines
rough shape same hight ans the rear bumper and skirt now
after sanding and spray filler , way nes shape and clean lines
rough set up and rough spray filler
parts like the grilles are hanging loose soo ..
this is how the fb and arches looked before
now
final paint its not white its broken white (creme white)
in between
dry fit of the parts after paint
after drying its motip out of a spray can
got light and shine ???
here you see my hand in a cast lol did this with the hand casted lol
