I don't think so they use a graphic tablet ....
just see a video how to make the reflections and the details of the car. :)
Step by step or a W.I.P :D
I love 🔰 !!!
@PLDESIGN - we don't use a tablet like that, we have a separate one with no image on, and we look at a different screen.

@szaba18 - I'm currently working on a little tutorial, with video clips to go along with it. It will detail the technique, and some basic tips on lighting. I don't know how much it will help though

Good advices in here and it's all well explained too!

In case people are interested for more material to read, there are books written about rendering cars. "How To Draw Cars Like A Pro 2nd Edition" by Thom Taylor is a pretty good one. It's based on traditional media instead of digital painting but the principle and theory is still the same.

Great explanation Andy! Very close, if not spot on, on how I do it too.
Never thought it would be useful to make a video of it because I still have a lot of trial and error in it.
If you have seen the wips of that Porsche you see the colors and lighting changed quite a lot

I don't have time to make bullshit.
i used to think same way as you guys do, i used to ask ATC how he does it. Then as i saw wips of sam and others, i had a rough idea how they do it.I Practiced for a time then bought myself a tablet and now i can brush realistic also, well its not as realistic as pro's but hey i got the idea and the technique just keep practicing and try understand how colors work and flow :-d
