I saw it at fb first, and immediately liked it. I liked the way it looked but sure wasn't blown away. I thought the BG/ground was off and the glare on the taillights isn't very convincing imo.
Knowing it's a vector and seeing those crazy closeups, none of this matter.

I agree with you about the ground. At first I tried finding a motion blurred curvy road for reference but as I couldn't, I had to try and make it myself. I'm not completely satisfied with the perspective of it either but it's close enough I guess.

It took maybe around 30 hours and all done in Photoshop CS3. I'm too lazy to start learning Illustrator. 
File size at 4000 pixels wide and only 150MB. There are no pixel information in there so it's not so heavy on hard drive. It's heavy on RAM though!
I didn't count the layers myself. I used a photoshop script that counts them automatically.
