Since I haven't really done anything on my personal laptop recently, here's the arrangement I use at work. Layers, paths and especially channels opened up by default and another important thing for me is to have the X360 tools handy all the time up there too. The other monitor is for other important stuff such as 3dsMax, CrazyBump or Autemo!

ctrl a = charm selection
ctrl r = (un)/rasterize layer

that does help a lot , its all about what you see and zooming in yes
i would never want to go back to a smaller size ps wise it was like a world opened..

Layer palette and tool options in the way of my work all the time. Luckily in psp you can actually zoom in and out and stuff
