My opinion is probably stupid, just read :P

Intermediate - Intermediate artist should be good copy/paster or just make his chops realistic, without obvious mistakes...
Pro - The pro artist should be awesome copy/paster!(Can C/P anything)or medium brusher, making his chops very realistic...
Advance - The advanced artist should be very good brusher and his chops should be atmospheric and realistic, all in one!
Elite - I don`t know what to say...Highest level should know everything about chopping, but I think they can make mistake sometimes,It`s normal :)

brushing is overrated
there i said it
it gives you freedom and is nice method of working
in a way it is nice and more true in my own artistical opinion, but it shouldnt be the deciding factor

but i see some people use it as an crutch ->it is not so good because i brushed it etc.
doesnt matter, aslong as the work done is innovative and done well enough it doesnt matter how you did it aslong as you follow the rules of the forums and copyrights in general

I agree, but brushing helps alot.I personaly mix c/p and brushing, but i still prefer to brush and mostly rebrush becouse the quality is on other level. And we know that when you make chop for a client,a rendering should I say,you realy do need a brushing skills.

In my opinion in inter should be someone who can make small realistic mods with c/p
In pro should be someone who can make a lot of mods with brush or just c/p
In advanced someone who can make a really good full brush with a good design
And elite who can make a chop/concept almost photorealistic with brushing

I look at things that way :)

I very much agree, No matter if you c/p or brush, it's the end results that matter.

See you're an artistic brusher, that's why I'm a fan of your work. But you often get flamed for not being uber realistic, But that's just your style.

Not stupid at all, you are very much correct.

But one artist that struck me today was: http://www.autemo.com/profiles/?id=typerulez
His chops are spectacular, amazing one of a kind design and great brushing and style, Better then anything I can ever do. But with maybe only a tiny error in some chops Like vents or something looking flat, I didn't put him in advance. Is that the right thing to do?

Also I notice alot of people ask for promotion. we try our best to put everyone in the right section, but why does it seem to matter so much about ranking?
As long as you are happy/ impressed with your own work, getting good comments and love what you are doing, shouldn't that is what matters most?

The fact is the whole showroom system sucks.
There are works in elite which to be completely fair are matched by some works in pro...

But i can enlighten you on what makes the perfect chop...
->Realism - this must be almost perfect
->Atmosphere - it's gotta have that wow factor
->Technical skill - have you just changed the colour - or performed some of the most difficult techniques available to use
->Design - while subtle mods maybe cool, something that's a little be wild and looks awesome is great...
Perfection... requires a touch of madness

As for promotion matters...
->Inter - the chopper has a basic chopping knowledge and is producing consistant good looking chops - rim changes and bg changes should be correct most of the time
->Pro - brushing is starting to take shape and looks quite convincing in low resolution - still mistakes and problems with realism at the highres. Rim and backdrop changes are an absolute must.
->Advanced - consistant chops with a high level of realism and brushing skill (more artistic brushing styles are also good - so long as the atmosphere is there to match). A chopper is starting to achieve that 'wow' factor in his work on a regular basis but there are still imperfections within the chop. High level of technical skill should also be shown
->Elite - Virtually perfect - the 'wow' factor is visible almost all the time, atmosphere and insane levels of detail and realism should be present. However it is not just a single chop, but consistently awesome work... chops that you look at and just think ' :omg:' ... Some of the most advanced techniques are used in perfect combination to create a stunning outcome

As for the buisness of toons.... you can't post them with normal chops - they're a completely different board game! Cos it doesn't matter if they're tooney! There fore you can't distinguish between a novice and elite tooner as easily... plus you're rating the quality of the original photo often... and not the final outcome.

But i agree... was discussing this with another admin... the whole promotions thing has got out of hand... and maybe needs tidying up somewhat...

What seperates advanced from elite is how well they manage to make blue, just like Sam.
It's hard to say who should be adv or elite. Cuz it's harder for people who brushing all car, than c/p. :)
