I started another personal car project. Didn't feel like designing the whole car myself this time so I thought I'd take a cool sketch drawing as a starting point. Currently still figuring out the base shapes of the car before I go into modeling the details.

Based on this sketch by Matteo Pandolfi.

holycrap that design looks amazing, cant wait to see it done :D
^Thanks! Me neither. :D

Some progress from yesterday:

I'm modeling the front shape again as I didn't like what I had before. Trying to get the front shapes match the rear more. Looking at it today, it looks a bit too sharp and not smooth enough.
Wow I like the sketch and your latest model.
The top view reminds me of the Mazda RX-8
Curious to see how you continue and what crazy details you're gonna put into it!
So it isn't just me. I thought I recognized some RX-8 in there myself as well.

I'll have to try taking it away from looking like an RX-8 as it's not going to be that type of car. The front is a bit different now after working on it last evening (I'll post a pic later when therre's more done to it).

My car type and style references are Aston Martin One-77 and Ferrari F12 (you can see I used the F12 blueprints as a size reference).
Here's something of the slightly re-designed front. I also drew the headlights' shape in there too. Any thoughts?

Making good progress on the rear.

Lots of progress all over the model. Here's some quick drawings of headlights and front bumper.

And another one by Maza. I think I'll try modeling that tomorrow and seeing how it looks.

Lots of small details done. I rounded the skirts, made the headlight recess deeper and made it so that the line from it continues onto the crease going over the front wheel arches. I also made the rear diffuser and added more shape onto the side of the car.

Up next it would seem I would have to flatten the turbosmooth modifier into the geometry because modeling the body panel shutlines into the low-poly geometry would prove inaccurate and more difficult than it has to be.

More boring grey wip images!

A lot of improvements done to the geometry all over the model for better, smoother flow. Now there's also shut lines for the body panels. Next up, I'd like to start modeling the interior.
