Artist level - hot or not?

Today I'm watching for our users.
My head give me idea about create new artist level :walla:
What do You think dear people, about create new rank for users, who left/login long time ago on autemo. We of course don't want kick nobody because aren't active, so let's give them rank Retired

I'm curious, what do You think about that system idea? Good or bad? Hot or not?
Tell Your opinion in this thread.

Not a bad idea tbh, but I think there will be a lot of people that are retired.
Yeap, and they block places in other ranks

Someone that is inactive for a while could also be further practicing before reappearing again. I think the ranking could be expanded all around as people progress in their images, but then maybe that's only as valid as the opinions or votes given, if any, on any related posts for ranking.

Just an idea, perhaps it was already considered and kept reduced - On the thought of rank names, I see a lot of very good artists still listed as 'Novice' when to me that indicates someone just beginning to edit images perhaps beyond their personal photo-corrections.
Or in pertaining to this site; I would consider a novice as a beginner in the specific types of automotive editing and imagery seen here. Perhaps a few more mid-range rank titles can be added; Aspiring, Promising, Talented, or whatever other descriptive named levels between Novice and Pro.

There used to be more ranks, from memory it used to be; Novice, Amateur, Pro, Advanced then Elite. However to cut down on complexity and make the site feel more active they were cut down to the 3 today.

I don't think we need a 'retired' one as those who don't post wont show up in recent threads. Though maybe a second 'rank' for posts to do with how much people post. So no posts or site visit for a month you become 'inactive' (similar to your retired rank), 1-10 posts a month then 'quiet', 11+ posts a month 'Active', 50+ posts a month 'Super Active'.

yeah, how about adding some ranks between novice & pro, so there's a diffrence between a new members and someone that already stay here longer
The rank based on post count is not a bad idea, but there's an issue with that. You have the "good work" and similar, which don't take up a lot of time to write. So someone can go and write in every new thread a bunch of comments and be seen as active/super active.

Then there's the ones that give a thorough comment on the chop, which is, in my opinion, a bigger effort and should be rewarded more.

Artist level ranks are good, but I don't see them as something that honestly tells the artists skill. There are some users on here that are good novices, and some pros that don't really have the quality of a pro. Just because you just joined, doesn't mean you're a novice.

Perhaps have a monthly public vote for the promotion, where users are nominated for a promo and we as a whole can vote if someone should get a promo or not, not just one(or a few) admins and mods. I agree that there will be users here that will say yes always, but it's worth to give it a shot.

I agree with the previous comments that there should be more levels between novice and pro, just to make a difference between the beginner and someone who has good work, but not pro level yet.
I agree that we should put a degree of activity, I mean encouraging those active with an award or something, maybe something would push more people to comment on and rate the chop.
The biggest issue with the comments(and rating) is the short generic "good job" comments. We need more people to actually comment on the chop, like what's good/bad.
