Hello all.

Right so im trying to brush this into a nice glossy purple/pink colour. I have some reference pics but havent really been using them as they're in a different environment. I've been trying to brush some bright white reflections but just cant seem to make it look right

Any help would be much appreciated

I find the whites look alright. It's the other stuff that breaks it.

The main (and maybe even the only) light source is between the hangar doors so this side of the car should be in the shadow while you have brushed the bright gradient-like on the front of the car. First, try making the side and rear evenly dark. Maybe make the rear a little darker to emphasise the shape of the car. You can get an idea of how sharp the edges of the darker rear should be by looking at how round the shapes look in the base image.

try something like this:

Nothing wrong with the white highlights, just the gradients could be better

side skirt is too bright

Thanks for the replies guys appreciate it!

I've left the side fairly bright as the light on the floor next to the car would act as a source of light too right?

I was kind of following JD's tutorial on brushing, the way he explains it he uses 3 different shades of light with no real gradients but i guess again this is a different environment.

I'll try sort it out a little better and thanks again for the replies :)

yes, because you have that kind of reflecting BG, you need to specify the source/sources of light and shadows too..and follow lines from stock car. i hope this was helpful :)

Tried again, added a shadow underneath as i think it helps to visualise it all and the direction of the light sources. Still cant get the paint to look great though

use reference only for light and dark tones of color, in this way it confuse you cause subaru its outside and your alfa is inside. and dont forget that color needs to be much darker than on subaru

Improved the overall toning of the paint and touched up a few things

156 represent :P
Coming along nicely but do agree the shade of colour is a bit bright for the surrounding atm.
Curious to see the choice of wheels.
