Boosting Activity

Well guys,

It probably hasn't gone unnoticed by you that the activity on Autemo has gone down a bit lately. This is one of the aspects that lead to Autemo falling under new management. Autemo depends greatly on a good community. A good community is all about paying it forward. By providing feedback for each other you create a sum greater than its parts. You provide feedback, another person gives you feedback, and the both of you get better because of it. Like 1+1=3. It is important to us that Autemo is and stays the best community for photo-shopping car enthusiasts.

The staff is busy coming up with all sorts of ideas. But because Autemo - and any site like it - depends so much on the community, you will need to pitch in. I'm not really asking, I need you guys to come up with reasons why at any given night we have 40 members online, 400 guests, and people who posted chops are starving for feedback. I would also just like to remind you how important it is for you to work together.

So, long story short; Post your ideas and opinions on improving the community.

Have you been watching too much red dwarf? <.<

+1 on errfin yew said innit brav.

In all seriousness, though, I've noticed it myself.
I can come on and post (which I haven't been recently - been very busy, not even visited the site hardly), and then it'll still be the newest post several hours later, despite a large number of members online.

I think part of the problem is the same old stuff over and over again - nothing new and interesting, and when you're giving out the same advice all the time, and seemingly people not taking any notice, it does start to drag a little.

More incentive to post would perhaps help - get the autemo ranking thing working properly, with ability to flag up/down an individual response, which would contribute to ranking points.

Aside from actual changes, all dem staff memberz need to get y0 asses down wiv da h00d, set the example of how things are meant to be.
Now i've got a bit more time, I'll be trying to comment on stuff a bit more again :-d

Yes exactely. People aren't give points on chops, commenting or anything.. A year ago the chat was full of new chopping award "popular" or "hot thread". But now there are max. 10 comments on an insane chop and there are several chops without comments. The same thing in the WIP section. People are dont give a * about them. We should do something with this.
Agree with both, and I have a couple of suggestions. Please shoot me down if this is 'impossible' to do though, I'm still trying not to be a nerd...sorry in advance for all the n00b things I'm going to say ...
1. The chop reel is not good enough, and not 'big' enough. It needs to feature more chops, and maybe even rotate them, one idea would be to have the latest posted chop of each showroom up there.
2. Reduce number of showrooms, has also been mentioned before though.
3. Let guests see more of the forum. Now I think we have to log on to even see the forum. The shoutbox can be so full of spam, I don't think customers should be allowed to see it though. :P
4. Do we even have the option to add tags to a chop when we post it? if not, we should. Let google know where all the cool stanced A4's and S13's are at :)
5. Autemo needs to get out there. Mention it as often as you can to as many as you can. If members want Autemo to matter, we need to make it matter. If no-one has heard about Autemo, no one will come here...we will have no clients, and no one will make money on chops, or get the attention they want.
6. Autemo blog, there is such a thing isn't there? ...basically copy everything off the facebook page to that page, make it as huge as The truth about cars, Jalopnik, or Top Gear.
7. Have fun chopping, F*** the haters, some chops can be cool without having quality, just as a lot of quality chops can be dead boring...
Some men just want to watch the world doing burnouts... :P

2. Definitely!

3. Guests can see the full forum, just not the chatbox. Clients can see it either.

4. Great idea, actually.

5. We're working on it :P

And about the blog, yeah, we did have one, but it failed quite hard.
Edit: Nicklas, brotha!

Part of the sentence marked with red is the main problem here
some of the chopers are completly gone from choping scene cause that
KTB is just one of them

1. Maybe visitors/guests should have permission to comment and rate chops here in forum.
2. I cant agree with Zyko for reducing number of showroms maybe we just could remove the "quick chop area"
3. All copmetitions should like BPC/ASC cause in these classic rounds everyone can join it, and we who are in lower ranks dont have a chance with rc82 workchop or somone else from that rank in that comp.
4.More active staff with much faster responce.
5. Fix that damn entry submision
6. Post some more chops on FB not just those from elite and advance artists
7. Reduce number of members, those inactive members.
Thats it from for now. :D

Guests will never be able to comment for one obvious reason: Spam. Just a heads up on that. Maybe we could condense the showrooms a bit and then have people perform against others in their own bracket for competitions. However to do that you need a lot of quality entries. And that's part of the activity problem. No sense dividing it into brackets when we've got 15 entries and it turns out there's 1 from one showroom, 2 from the next two, and 10 from the other one. Lets get to work on the activity first.

Keep the feedback coming!

Everyone that's read this thread/commented on this thread, now must go and put a comment on the top 5 works in each showroom from NCA -> PRO and top 5 in WIPs.

Forum activity status: boosted

Wtf you on nowadays? xD
I'd also check if there are threads left with 0 or 1 comments :P

We could start a thing going like on flickr, post a chop, rate the previous X amount of chops.
Not sure it would circulate properly that way but it's an idea.
