Future of Autemo Pt.2
Hi Autemolians.
As most of you would have heard by now, Autemo had a brush with death a few days ago.
So this is a follow up post to let you know what is happening.
Due to personal commitments and other projects, Mk211 (Mark) was having doubts about how much time he can dedicate on the site, so he ended up with 2 options: either call it a day and close the site for good (as it was costing him a lot of money), or sell it to a potential investor to keep this place running and continue to expand.
Now, I've met Mark in person a few times and he is truly an honest, genuine, great guy that has dedicated a lot of time in this project, and I think we ALL owe him alot! So I ended up forking out the cash myself and buy the site and everything within from him (ANYTHING to stop this from closing like Digimods did! ), Right now Mark is helping me do all the transfer of host/ domain/ coding as we speak. <3
Because the current server is one of the best available, we felt that it exceeded our needs. So to save a bit of money, we will be trying to host with a new server for a 1 month test period (So I'll be asking for feedback once we do the changeover)
With me taking over and the whole admin team behind me, I aim to:
-Try and take action to change the chopping scene, so that creativity is valued and appreciated again, reduce copy and paste chops that have been flooding the forums over the years (that many consider to be plagiarizing photographers work.)
-Have more creative competitions which test the artist by having set criteria which you have to follow.
-Bring back in commissioned chop work and bring back old school choppers if possible.
-Fix bugs
-(Possibly) merge 2 of the chop showrooms
-(possibly) change the voting system in chops and in competitions.
-Keep the site looking fresh!
-Get feedback from you guys and help with whatever issues arise.
-Maybe cut down on Autemo size and remove unnecessary content.
To help me out, I'll be bringing in some new Admin/ Moderators into the team, because this is bigger then a one man job, but all will be revealed soon in a later post.
I dont really know anything about coding, so I'll be reading into that and try to learn it all over the next xx months. But if anyone here is a web designer by trade, let me know because you might come in handy.
Sorry if we've been keeping you guys/ girls in the dark and waiting. But a lot of thought and questioning occurred over the last few weeks to come to this conclusion, but I can promise you that the forum will be staying and Autemo will be better than ever in the next few months as I've got some plans in mind.
Looking forward to running Autemo, hopefully learn to play around the site and help you lot however I can.
