Injecting a bit of creativity.

Right, I think the forum needs a bit of a shake-up. For a 'design studio' it's a bit lacking in creativity. I wanna be able to see images as soon as I log on, in stead of having to search through levels, and only seeing comments on the bigger guys work is getting a bit tiring.

Main idea is this:
-having a chop reel running along the top of the page maybe, with recent and outstanding chops/sketches/designs on.

Just so there's an immediate grab of your attention. What you think...?

(In fact the facebook page does a good job of this, so why can't we transfer that to here...?)

This is rather funny, it's something I could've said two years ago.
Artist formerly known as "Dev"
this is rather funny too. it's something i came up with before autemo even existed.
Was intended for VM though.. think i have the screenshot of the design still..

Well why didn't you say it :s Tbh the only reason I come on here is the hope it'll one day be as good as it used to be. People like Roobi and Naj got me into chopping, they're long gone , and I can see why.

because they got themselves a life and realised how sad chopping really is? :awesome: xD
but gotta agree. autemo's been dead recently. The fact is chopping is old, people no longer work with 2D renders, they want 3D models blah blah, so chopping will probably just to continue to die down.

The fact is there is no point to chopping, except for self pleasure (as covered in a recent interview with hugo)... and tbh that's all it should be.

Regarding the lack of creativity, i think that's partly due to the lack of creativity in the automotive industry as a whole. (at least in terms of vehicles that are actually produced). The fact is people don't want to own some crazy space ship most of the time, and everything has been done in terms of car design. You look at all of the cars of the past decade, there's nothing new at all there.... so meh.

And will, was actually VM, not spamuamods vm xD

because of the design of the forum? lol
I made this suggestion in the staff area.

I was thinking something more along the lines of a Facebook style ticker, including Recent Threads, Recent Posts, Hot threads, etc.

Also, a calendar would be handy including all the relevant competition dates and deadlines.

All these could be in a side bar to the right or left of the central forums (in what is currently the green space).

Mark (MK211) is responsible for all of the website developments here, and he works a full time job, and as well as this he's starting a new business project, so he has little time for Autemo (for now).

So until he has more free time, or one of the staff here learns to code like a boss, we won't be seeing it anytime soon ;)

on a final note, what makes a forum is the community.
Fact is everyone is too god damn fucking lazy to go round and provide constructive comments most of the time.

If everyone did it, then it would become the norm, and the community would grow..
but as virtually no one does most people see no point in even bothering

3D is not taking over from 2D. Gotta disagree with that. Anyone on this forum who's interested in the automotive design part of things should know that sketching is THE most important part of the process. But not so sure it belongs here on a photochopping forum.
