my first chop ever, ford escort, mini update peugeot 106/ram 1500

I need some tips and pointers on what i can do better, what i shouldnt do next time, was going to put some new rims on it but then i lowered it and didnt name any of the layers, so it was messy and in the end i just thought, sod it, ill start a new one.
i know it is miles, (metric miles!) behind all you other guys but im sure the next one will look alot better :)

btw. does anybody know about a good tutorial site?

Welcome to chopping :D
All I can really remark is: fill in the bottom of the arches after lowering so you cant see trough them.
For tuts see PM ;)
First things first, not a bad attempt for a fresh chop. Here is some good advice to help you get started here in the world of chopping ;):

Tutorials and Learning how to chop
For tuts and inspiration, I would personally check out Digimods.co.uk. It's a great site full of tuts where newer choppers will learn alot ;) On Autemo, there are a few subforum sections (look towards the bottom of the main forum) that contain tips and tricks, and tutorials. There are not an overly excessive amount at the moment, but there are certainly some good ones in there. We will build that area up in due time!

Another big tip I'd advise in this department is make use of the 'works in progress' subforum here on Autemo. Next time you are working on a chop post it up in there for early comments and constructive criticism that will help you to improve the chop as you go along.

Chopping Resources
Also for chopping resources (base images, through to rims, bodykits etc) head on over to the 'donorcentral' link and you'll find all types of bits and pieces useful for using in your chops ;) The following list of websites also have great big databases full of useful 'base' images to start chops off with:
dieselstation.com
netcarshow.com
seriouswheels.com
autowp.ru
rsportscars.com
Remember, the better the image you start off with, the better the final outcome of the chop.

Like with many things, simply keep practicing and participate actively in the forums and you'll pick things up and get good in no time ;)

i think it's wise you started slow , i mean a lot of people try to make outrageous stuff without having the skills ..
your way is good , gradually build up the changes , lowering , wheels , bodykit, using parts and colormatch them and so on :-d

welcome to autodemo
Thanks alot for replies and answers :) , been checking out digimods and some other sites and are slowly getting better,
Made a new one today, not really happy with it but uploading it anyways, didnt deserve its own thread so adding it in the first post.
going to step my game up with my next chop, and are planning to work on it a couple of days/weeks rather then hours :P

edit: does someone know of a good site to find background to chops?

edit: tips & pointers are still welcome even thought i started slacking in the end with the volvo.

For bg donors, check out modified car photography sites like Tunerzine.com or a search on flickr can bring up some possibilities.

As for the chopping, it's not too bad for a first chop actually. Keep it simple while your getting to know how to use the program you're using, then build up the mods. Keep it up!

I really like the nos coming out of the rims
You can find nice background on netcarshow.com , too.
just press F5, then new random pics will show up. It´s an easy way to see many pics in high res.
You know you wanna click it!

another mini-update, it feels like im improving but sloooowly, it just feels like i can do alot better then the results.

another noobquestion when i ctrl+arrow down the new layer just move further down on the background, and the top does not get cropped, so i have to remove the top of the car on the background and the result looks alot worse, any ideas on how to change this?

cheers :D

edit: haha, found out what i was doing wrong with the lowering right now, nm that :P
