We were saddened reading news that the Lancer Evolution X, will be the last Evo. In the words of Gayu Eusegi, Mitsubishi's global product director, "There is still a demand, but we must stop. Our influence now is EV technology".
It seems Mitsubishi, has decided its image is about lowering CO2, not making lurid replicas of rally cars that don't go top-level rallying any more. So the X will be the last Evolution model? Yes. "Maybe the world can change, and maybe someday we can do a motor race by electric vehicles, maybe then we can enter the market again."
That leaves us with a feeling that it'll be a while until the next Mitsubishi rally car, we can only hope that the environmentally friendly technologies get to this level pretty quickly...
In the mean time, the Autemo World Team Battle round 1 now becomes a tribute to the Evo 10, and all the possibilities of modifying it. The 97 WTB teams will submit their entries in less than two weeks and we are eagerly looking forward to reviewing all of their awesome creations.
